What I think is I'm leaving my friends behind and playing Halo 5 instead of Destiny because I find the loot crawl to be complete and utter bullshit.

I want to play games because they're fun, not because of some dangling carrot.

Your post made me incredibly sad . . . because the more time I spend with Halo 5, the more I start thinking like this, and I don't want to.

I love, love, love Destiny, and I enjoy playing it. But Halo 5 is so, so refreshing. To just jump into the campaign and play missions to experience the story, and to replay them because they're fun . . . jumping into Arena (or even Warzone) and knowing exactly what's going down with no guessing about enemy weapons or supers or which of fifteen different grenades are going to thrown at you . . .

I do love Destiny, and I don't really care to rehash the "loot is bad mechanics" discussion, but Halo 5 was exactly what I needed, exactly what I've been looking for.

I'm sure I'll return occasionally, and maybe even more permanently soon enough, but for now Destiny is going back on the shelf, and that is relieving in an odd sort of way.
