Elemental damage was a terrible perk for weapons designed to be top-tier PVP weapons since elemental damage doesn't help in PvP at all. While the usefulness will be limited (I think it will help in Trials quite a bit, especially if you're fighting the only other living guy on their team 1-on-1) it's still more useful in PvP than elemental damage was.

I LOVED elemental damage on the Trials weapons because it helped give them a specific usefulness in PvE. I think the year 1 Trials adept weapons were near-perfect in terms of a top tier rewards set. They were weapons that had great base-level stats; nothing crazy OP, just good overall performance. They had perks that were more useful for PvP, and then Elemental damage to make them special in PvE. This made them extremely useful overall weapons without being overpowered in any single regard (like Fatebringer).
