On the flip side... (Destiny)

Right and I get that, that wasn't my point though :). If you are someone who LOVES PvP above all else, why would you care about getting a Trials weapon with elemental damage aside from bragging rights? At least now the weapon has an additional perk that helps with PvP for making it to the Lighthouse.

The reward before was like winning a footrace and them saying "Congratulations! Here's a swimming cap that will help you swim faster!"

Lol... I wouldn't go THAT far :)

The year 1 trials guns were some of the very best PvP weapons. My scholar got me to the Lighthouse several times, and the Messenger is still the best PvP gun in the game if you ask me.

Right, but I had every Trials weapon in the game, and none of the ones I used were Adept versions, the Adept versions were only useful in PvP if you couldn't get a non-Adept version from a package or from buying it from Brother Vance. Now if you love PvP you get a PvP bonus for making it to the Lighthouse even if you had a non Adept version of the gun.

Yeah the year 1 adept weapons appealed to me so much because I love playing PvP and PvE equally. I thought it was great to get rewards that were very useful across the entire game. I think I also enjoyed the "trophy" aspect of the weapons. Every time you fired that gun, in PvP or PvE, people could tell it was an adept version because of the elemental effects. They knew I'd earned that weapon by going to the lighthouse. I enjoy that aspect of Destiny, since it plays into the "become legend" aspect of the whole "shared world" experience. I like being able to know something about the players around me just by looking at them.

Looking at the year 2 Adept weapons, it's like they said "well we want to make them 100% PvP focused, but we don't want them to be overpowered either. So we'll give them a bonus PvP ability that is almost useless".

I still maintain this is going to be more useful than you think in Trials. I am the last one alive on my team at least a few times per game in Trials and any advantage is appreciated.

You might be totally right. I just don't like the concept of perks that are so conditional on a very specific scenario. Especially given the fact that it is a scenario I am actively trying to avoid at all times.

However, I did get the Adept hand cannon last night with Underdog in addition to rangefinder, reinforced barrel, and Sureshot IS. So it has very high range to begin with (for a hand cannon), then bonus handeling, range, and reload speed if I'm the last surviving member of the fireteam. That sounds like it might be an interesting combo, even if it is only useful in very select situations.
