Private fireteam builder events, eh? (Destiny)

Keeps the spoilz private! ;-)

I guess that's useful, and I'm not saying I'll never use it, but it also makes me a little sad. I liked how FTB naturally discouraged exclusivity.

I kind of agree. The devil's advocate in me want to say that the party leader could just organize it w/o the FTB & it's essentially the same thing, except invited DBOers wouldn't have the private event on the sidebar to remind them about it. The only potentially bad thing I can envision is if it encourages a culture shift here on DBO, but I don't see that happening, especially since it'd be private & I wouldn't know about it! ;-P :)

Yeah, that's part of it. Maybe I'm a masochist who likes seeing those full parties of people I'd like to play with but missed out on the extra-DBO planning. :) (Honestly, it does interest me to see what people are up to. Maybe I'm just nosey.)

The only time I'd use the feature is if I had previously talked about doing an event w/ someone (IRL or on the forum). I would make a private event, send them the link, and then open it up after they've signed up.

Yeah, I'll probably do that, too. I don't think there's anyone here that I would mind playing with (and I like to assume that's true even if it isn't). You can't stop people from preferring to play with the people they're closest to. Bigarm is one of my best friends, and it's been a joy finally being able to regularly play a game with her after years of being on different platforms. The PS4 Deeply Flawed crew have been my most regular group ever (at least since the heyday of Halo Co-op Nights I ran), but I've viewed that as partly a function of most PS4 players here having later schedules than me. I still like to have a slot or two open for newcomers. I'm a fan of mixing it up. The vast majority of my local real-life friends aren't gamers, and open community events on bungie.org have brought me some great friendships. I come from a place of not having people to game with, but if my history were different, I might have a different take.
