Speaking to your point about the game feeling alive and real, Cody, I think there are people here like Xenos and Raga who have absorbed the lore to such an extent that, for them, the experience in the game world is substantially more alive and real than it is for others. They're more imaginatively engaged.

That’s definitely true, and it’s awesome that they can engage like that. I point to that as a failure of the game to make people care enough to engage, rather than a failure of the players to use their imagination.

I didn't point on purpose. :)

It’s interesting the way different people are able to engage with games on different levels. I often wish I could get invested in Destiny’s lore, because as you point out, I’m sure I’d enjoy aspects of the game more. I just can’t seem to get into the lore if the primary narrative doesn’t grab me. I’m playing God of War right now, and I’m just down and absorbing every piece of lore I can find. It’s wonderfully delivered, inherently fascinating, and it pays off through the narrative. But I’m not sure if I’d be invested on that level if I wasn’t already invested in the primary characters and plot.
