What actually happened to Destiny's development? (Destiny)

I haven't posted on a Bungie.Org site in a very long time, as I've pretty much distanced myself from this community in the past few years but this game has brought me back and I just have to ask a simple question that probably has no answer.

Where in Destiny's development did they quit being the Bungie we love?

It's pretty obvious something changed in this game. Something turned it from what it was into what it is now, that's almost not even a theory. We have cutscenes scene in trailers that aren't in the full game, we have NDA rumors of a time when The Queen's Brother was called Crow and how he was a recurring side-character.

Look at this specifically. 'Book 1, Chapter 3'. This was Pre-Alpha. Something changed.

When and why?

This mission isn't in the game at all. The Archive mission instead of a standard Destiny 'wait while Dinklebot does stuff and shoot things for a bit because he's slow'

Something happened in this development of Destiny and I want to know who to blame, because what we were told we were getting isn't at all like the final product.
