This Week At Bungie... and a Late-Breaking Story

Okay, big news first: 6v6 Iron Banner has been postponed, due to a late-breaking issue discovered in the studio very recently. Rumble will go live next Tuesday in its place. More details can be found in Cozmo's post on the Bungie.net forums.

With that out of the way, let's get to yesterday's studio update (which, of course, features that upcoming Iron Banner). There's a summary of the recent Mayhem Bungie Bounty, a Q&A with questions sourced from Twitter and answers from Josh Hamrick and Kevin Yanes, a teaser about an upcoming Community Summit, and the normal features - commentary from the Destiny Player Support team, Nightfall scores, fan movies. (The movies are all pretty cool this week.) Go give it a read! As always, in addition to Bungie.net, you can find it in our Weekly Update Archive.

This Week At Bungie - 3/29/2018

The Bungie studio update this week looks ahead to the next update, 1.2.0, coming next month. There's a little teaser of some Crucible gameplay with Sturm and Drang... and wow, do they look amazing now! There's also an update coming to the Companion app, a new Bungie Bounty (and a new emblem for successful participants), and the standard features - info from the Support team, info about Nightfall high scores this week, and fan videos. The Calus ramp-up continues - this week, Calus is killed in a single phase, by a 2-man team. I'm inspired! Go read - either on Bungie.net, or in our own archive.

This Week At Bungie - 3/22/2018

dmg04 is back with another update for the fans about what's going on in the studio right now - and it looks like it's mostly focused on Update 1.1.4, coming out next Tuesday. Nightfall rewards, competitive upgrades, Banhammer improvements, nad more - go check out the list! Also, I was impressed last week with the clutch Calus takedown by a single player after his teammates died. It's got nothing on this week's version... a full team (minus 1) dies during a PRESTIGE run, the living guy revives a single buddy, then realizes he's got no ammo of any kind. His buddy dies again... and he takes down Calus with a series of melee attacks. I mean... c'mon. Go check out the whole thing! In addition to the copy on Bungie.net, you can find our copy in the Archives here.

This Week At Bungie - 3/15/2018

It's Thursday, so it's time for another Weekly summary from Bungie! This week, they're letting you know about the upcoming Faction Rally (kicking off next Tuesday), the end of Season 2 (April 3), some cheating that's happening in the Nightfall high score chase, and some standard features (an update from the Destiny Support team, some fan videos). Check it out! We have a copy as well, of course.

This Week At Bungie - 03/08/2018

Yesterday was Thursday, so a new update on the week's progress was posted on Bungie.net - it's a pretty interesting read if you're curious about where Destiny 2 is going in the near future. Update 1.1.4, due in a ccouple of weeks, is laid out for you... and the changes look pretty extensive! There are also details of an update to the Companion App, notes from the Player Support crew, and some player content. (Someone has solo'd the first phase of Argos. I'm impressed.) Go read! It's available in our Archive as well as on B.net.

These weeks at Bungie (end of February-ish)

We're a little behind, but hey - that just gives you more to read! We missed Bungie's update from the 15th (the discussion was about the then-upcoming Rally Faction, and the fact that caps were lifted, along with more discussion of upcoming sandbox changes), and we missed last week's update (which had some updates to the development roadmap unveiled last month, along with emblem update info) - we're getting this posted just in time for Thursday's update THIS week, which we can't tell you about because we haven't read it yet. Go catch up - we just did! (Both weeks are also in our archive - here and here.)

This Week at Bungie - 2/8/2018

Another really solid TWAB this week, focusing on some major changes coming to Nightfalls (especially Prestige Nightfalls) and Raids (especially Prestige Raids).

Nightfalls will soon have new scoring and timing mechanics, as well as strike-specific emblems to track and flaunt your highest scores.  Additionally, Challenge Cards will drop that will allow you to activate certain modifiers and handicaps on Prestige runs that make it more challenging, but also come with score multipliers and promises of more rewarding loot.  The first of theses changes are slated for Update 1.1.3, currently targeted for February 27th, but Bungie promises that theses are only initial offerings that will be tweaked and added to as time goes on and community feedback rolls in.

As for Raid activities, new challenges will be coming to Prestige Raids in the form of curated loadouts.  Each week, one Raid/Raid Lair will be set up with a rotating slate of modifiers and loadout restrictions with the core goals being to "provide new ways to engage with raid content each week, new ways to engage with different weapons in your vault, and new rewards to chase."  These raid changes are being target for May.

I highly recommend you check out the full info-blast either at Bungie's usual place, or here on our local archive.  There really is a lot of substance in this one!

This Week At Bungie - 2/01/2018

It's Thursday, so the summary of Bungie's week is live at Bungie.net (and in our Weekly Update Archive) - swing by to read it! The roadmap they published yesterday on Twitter is in there, if you missed it, along with a substantial update from Sandbox Design Lead Josh Hamrick (some interesting tidbits in there, and some very welcome news for charging Titans), details about the recent update and known issues arising from it via the Destiny Player Support team,  and a pair of fun vids. Go give it a few minutes!

This Week At Bungie - 01/25/2018

For the update this week Bungie has included a ton of great info about the update coming next week. Included is the dates and loot coming for Iron Banner (starting January 30th), the fine details about Masterworks Armor, the rework of the Raid rewards system (including one new exotic Ghost shell), and the smaller fixes and tweaks coming in the patch itself. In addition make sure to read Tyson Green's details on why deleting shaders hasn't been improved yet, including their plans to rework the entire shader system to make it more friendly. And to finish it off the Movie of the Week is a lightning fast Argos kill. Check it out! (Local copy will be here)

This Week At Bungie - 01/11/2018

Faction Rally

The first update of the year is somewhat brief, as Cozmo is busy wiping the cobwebs from his desk (welcome back!). The big news is the Development Update that we spoke about earlier today, where you can get a decent head's up on what's to come to the world of Destiny 2 in the coming months. Faction Rally is set to return next week, with all three factions offering an Auto Rifle (and some new duds) as a reward for your loyalty, though Destiny Player Support informs us that the game will be down for maintenance from 8-12pm on Tuesday in order to make it all happen.
Cozmo wraps it all up with four Movies of the Week, including a wonderful piano arrangement of "Journey", by Lady Desiree. Give it a read over at Bungie's site, or check the local copy available here.

This Week At Bungie - 12/14/2017

Droppin' a Hunter off at the pool.

This week was a busy one for Bungie, with a notable update having been released earlier this week, and some important info on a misstep and the work being done to correct it.

And while it's the final update of the year, the world of Destiny 2 is by no means slowing down, with The Dawning (and a new Osiris-themed webcomic) on the way next week, which looks like it'll be a ton of fun! Destiny Player Support never rests either, with a list of this week's known issues, and a reminder that while most of the folks at Bungie will be away for the holidays, there are a number of ways that you can still make your voice heard!

Capping things off, the MoTW's are all about wordless expressions (possibly in honor of the all-deaf team that managed to conquer the new Raid Lair?), and we are left with a reminder that the updates to the game will continue early into the new year. Check it out over at Bungie's site, or feel free to read the local copy available here, then get ready to throw some snowballs on Tuesday!

This Week At Bungie - 12/07/2017

Yesterday, Bungie posted another update about Destiny 2 - the week was unsurprisingly dominated by the launch of Curse of Osiris. If you missed the trailer, it's included. If you need info on the launch of the Raid Lair, it's included. If you're curious about the next Faction Rally, which launches next Tuesday, it's included. If you're wondering about balance tweaks, a discussion is included. If you want to know how Bungie handles feedback, it's included. It should go without saying that the standard features - help from the Support team, and fan-created vids - are included. Go read! We've got it in our Weekly Update Archive, if you need it.

There is a preview of the armor and weapons dropping with Curse of Osiris on Tuesday. There's a pre-flight check from Destiny Player Support, so you're ready to play CoO as soon as it's out. This Week At Bungie - 11/22/2017

Mercury: Retrograde

The Bungie folks are gone for Thanksgiving, but we still get an update before they go! The whole thing starts with an archived recording of the "New Ways To Play" stream from Tuesday, showcasing some of the new features available in the upcoming Curse of Osiris. And for those running into erroneous error messages on PC, while you're swallowing your turkey, Destiny Player Support is looking for a way to swallow your Buffalo, with some helpful troubleshooting steps to get you back in the game (have you tried configuring your UPnP?). They have also included a list of other known issues, so stand by for some fixes for those!
The short-but-sweet update is wrapped up with Montage-focused MotWs, and a reminder of next Wednesday's stream, which will show off the new loot that you can acquire once the expansion drops on December 5th. A local copy will be available soon (some of us are also gone for the holiday!), and thanks go to CougRon for letting us know about the early update!

This Week At Bungie - 11/16/17

Osiris Guardians

With most of the team gearing up for upcoming Destiny content, and Cozmo taking time off to care for the newest addition to the family (congrats!), this week's update is brought to us by dmg04, the current Acting Community Manager. He brings us an archived upload of the "New Stories To Tell" stream from Wednesday, with a hint of what we can expect from the next one. There is also a reminder about New Monarchy's Faction Rally victory (grab that Sword if you qualified!), and a some info on Iron Banner's return on Tuesday (the gametype will be Clash!). Destiny Player Support has some Hotfix troubleshooting, and this week's MoTWs are all about talent and style.
As always, a local copy is available to check out here, and thanks go to Kahzgul for letting us know about the update.

New Monarchy Warlock

Faction Rally isn't the only thing seeing some cultivation this week, as Bungie's update shows. The December 5th patch dropping with Curse of Osiris is bringing a whole slew of refinements and changes, which Bungie helps fill us in on. Ready for some HDR and 4K on your premium consoles? Looking forward to an emote wheel? Wondering what's next for clans (and those who turn to clans for help through Guided Games)? Information on all that and more can be found in this update.
Other than that, Destiny Player Support has some information on a big change coming to the weekly refresh schedule, and the Movies of the Week offer up something way different than the usual fare, so check them out, either at Bungie's own site, or here in the local copy. Thanks, CougRon for letting us know!

This Week At Bungie - 10/26/2017 (a little late)

The latest update from Bungie went live 2 days ago, but we're sometimes a little slow here. Doesn't mean you shouldn't read it, though - it's full of tasty info. There's the PC ViDoc if you haven't seen it yet, along with reminders of the new armor coming in Season 2 (and a summary of the changes we can expect to see when that launches). There's a patch note preview for some much more immediate changes  (dropping in the next few days, in fact). The Support team has a list of issues they're working on with the PC launch, and there are, as always, fan videos. Go check it all out! (We've had a copy in our Weekly Update Archive since Thursday. Again, sorry for the delay in telling you about it.)

Chalus

This week at Bungie, the PC launch is in the spotlight. Everything from hardware recommendations to a calendar of the first month's events is covered. For those who are more curious about Bungie's long-term plans with Destiny 2, you'll get more information on today's "Seasons of Destiny" panel at TwitchCon (4:30PM Pacific).
Destiny Player Support has some pretty important info on Hotfixes and known bugs, and the Movies of the Week make great use of Destiny 2's beautiful environments!

You can read all about it over at Bungie's site, or read the local copy here. Thanks, Schedonnardus, for the heads up!

This Week At Bungie - 10/12/2017

Yeah, so it was Thursday yesterday, and Bungie posted another update (and we even localized it then), but now it's Friday, and we're finally getting around to telling you about it. Because we're lazy. But you shouldn't be lazy - you should go read it, because it contains interesting stuff that you probably want to know about. Have you been playing Iron Banner this week? If not, you haven't experienced Distant Shores yet - it's a new map brought over from Destiny 1, and it's quite fun. Are you planning on getting the PC version of Destiny 2? Then you might want to check out the details about launch windows in various countries, and minimum and recommended stats of the hardware you'll need to run it. Have you been waiting for the Prestige raid, and are you worried they'll postpone it again? Don't worry, they won't - you can read why in the update. Are you having issues with the game? The Support team has your back. Do you like watching videos made by fans showing fun aspects of Destiny 2? They're in there, too! Check it all out.

Also next week, the Prestige version of the Raid drops - harder, minor mechanical changes (why does that sound so ominous?), 'unique rewards'. In two weeks, a Destiny panel at TwitchCon, talking about Seasons. And of course, the reliable support notes and weekly fan vids. Go check it all out! It's in our Weekly Update Archive, as well, of course.

This Week At Bungie - 09/28/17

Faction Rally
This week at Bungie, the first Faction Rally is in full swing, so news is a bit on the lighter-but-savory side. Bungie can't tell us for sure if Dead Orbit is winning by a mile or several miles, but the winner will be announced after Hotfix 1.0.3.1 drops on Tuesday (they weren't kidding about faster tweaks to the game). If you're curious about what changes will come with that Hotfix, a preview has been included as well.
And speaking of tweaks, Senior Designer Jon Weisnewski dropped by to let us know that they are closely monitoring the Sandbox, and to remind folks about their Feedback forum. To cap off the update, Destiny Player Support will help you get ready for the upcoming changes, and the fantastic Movies of The Week should tide you over until then.

Check out at Bungie's site, or in our local archive. Thanks to UnrealCh13f for the heads up!

This(?) Week At Bungie - 09/21/17

Faction Rally
Boy, Destiny 2 is so addictive that we've been a bit behind on the news. Did you know there was a Weekly Update last week? It's true! And it's been placed in the local archive for your enjoyment.
There was another update for this week a few days ago as well, so let's get into it, since it will be very relevant starting tomorrow. First up, Faction Rally is here! Your favorite factions (and FWC) have returned in Destiny 2, and they're bringing some exclusive loot with them. Check the update for details on what they're bringing, and how you can contribute to an exclusive deal for your faction of choice!
Also in the update is a large collection of gorgeous images and concept art from Bungie's art team. A few spoilers in there, so be ready to avert your gaze on the last few images if you haven't done the raid yet.
Rounding out the update is some Q&A about how Guided games works in the Beta stage, Destiny Player Support has some troubleshooting and maintenance info, and the Movie of the Week includes some sweet riffs for fans of the "Journey" track from Destiny 2's soundtrack.

And while we've been lacking on front page posts, the local archive continues to be updated reliably, so feel free to check it out there (and thanks to Robot Chickens, for letting us know about this update!)

Some Other Week at Bungie - 09/07/17

Well, it's almost time for the NEXT weekly update from Bungie, so don't you think it might be time to mention LAST week's? In our defense, we've been playing. A lot. So: what did you miss? Let's see... there was a roadmap for the special activities planned for Month 1 of Destiny 2 (some interesting stuff in there!), details about the Destiny 2 soundtrack, and an explanation, from Luke Smith, about why they chose to go the route they did with shaders this time around, along with the standard Support notes and fan-created videos. All in all, a worthwhile update - we're sorry we haven't mentioned it before now! (If it makes you feel any better, it's been in our Weekly Update Archive since last Thursday.)

This Week At Bungie - 08/31/2017

Venus?
While this post is a few days late, the final Weekly Update before Destiny 2's launch is definitely worth a read. There's actually so much info in this week's post that summarizing it all would make for a long news post in itself. Everything from additions to the Bungie Store to important dates that you'll want to remember.is covered. Investment Designer Daniel Auchenpaugh lets us know how Bungie is improving engram decryption, and Destiny Player Support has info that will help you get your console and account ready to make the most of Destiny 2's robust social features. Even the MotW is chock-full of information, so check it all out, either at Bungie.net, or here in the local archive. Thanks for the heads up, CyberKN!
