Roles are a thing, but not so much. Try practicing the 'main-ing' roles, but keep your team fluid.

Don't burn that last Envoy if you're being or are about to be invaded. That way you only proc damage phase when perfectly safe.

Only invade once you see their Primeval being hurt. That way, you'll definitely mess up their damage phase.

The boss cannot be burned to death in the first phase. If it gets down to about a third of its health in the first phase, it will raise its shield back up, no matter how much time has passed. It can, however, be burned on the second phase without safeguards.
