For many people, exclusive games can be a deciding factor in what console they'll purchase. The current thinking* is that it is in MS/Sony's best interest to keep exclusives, exclusive.
This isn't true. If it were, MS would not be making these games for PC as well. Why buy an Xbox when you can play it on your computer? It is true. For MS, games on PC are part of the "Xbox Platform" which includes XB360, XB1, XSX, PC, Android, iOS, and even a few Switch games.
With HZD and Death Stranding coming to PC, it would seem Sony is beginning to implement a similar strategy.
