For a loot based game, it sure is shitty design to limit us the ability to collect loot.

Gotta agree with this.

The one problem with this idea is that Bungie did not make any of the loot, apart from exotics, meant to be collected. You might argue this, and you have every right to :D

The reason I say this is because if all the items were meant to be collected and stored for memorabilia sake then we wouldn't have mods, shaders and light level. These mechanics, as well as the vault space, is meant to allow you to get the weapons you like using, customize them and level them up. It was not meant to allow you to collect all the weapons and armor. You can definitely try, but that was not how Destiny was designed.
