I saw it at a local, fairly upscale shopping center cineplex at the first showing of the day--1 p.m. The theater was about 1/4 full with people roughly my age and older (read OLD).
Had an aisle to myself basically and no one in front of me (with stadium seating that wouldn't have mattered much). I never heard anyone say a word. Never heard or saw any phones after the lights went down.
It really is a wonderful movie. The 3-D really adds to the experience, and not in a bad way. Distances are a very important element of the story, and 3-D serves that well.
I'm going to see it again on an IMAX screen.
