This whole thing has grown out of control.

They definitely used specific art assets that weren’t theirs. They’ve admitted as much. That’s inexcusable. It’s happened multiple times now. Even if you believe it happened by accident, which is totally a possibility, it’s happened too many times for them to not be taking it seriously and for them to not have a process to prevent it.

However, now there’s this larger narrative that they stole the whole art style for the game, and that’s frankly stupid. Joseph Cross has art posted on his profiles from like a decade ago that looks like it could be from this game. This style feels new and unique for video games, but it is neither new nor unique in general, with many people making stuff that looks similar for ages now.

I’m not sure how much that matters, though. The narrative is set now, and I genuinely don’t know if they can overcome it. The only chance is if the game releases and is incredible, and I just don’t think that seems likely, given how they talked about it on that latest stream. It seems like they are still totally unsure about what they’re even making.
