I never had the slightest issue with tihs, so I have to wonder what kind of care was taken of those controllers.

Except for wearing out a paddle button and snapping the plastic on a bumper (which still works anyway) my Elite controller is basically pristine after more than 3 years of constant use. I attribute this partly to being able to re-map sprint off the movement stick, as that was the biggest cause of controller wear before (my first Xbox One controller lasted maybe 6 months).

However, some people just seem to have corrosive sweat, or just grip a lot harder I guess. When we used to share controllers back in the Halo 1 LAN days, you could always tell one of my friend's controllers because the sticks were completely smooth on top.

Corrosive sweat, huh. Is this your friend?
