They've pushed this shtick so far that I literally can't hear Fillion's voice without rolling my eyes. My inner Firefly fanboy is dying a slow, painful death.
It's almost like they don't actually know why Mal was a good character…
Heck, even TTK Cayde was mostly serious. It wasn't until that free April update that he became full-blown obnoxious, and the marketing for D2 has run with that tone ever since. And from the little we've seen of Cayde in D2, he seems to be hamming it up more than he ever did in D1/TTK.
