I think its bad.

If you want a certain look now you have to find (5) matching shaders for your equip. Its fine for guns, but not for armor. I changed my shaders a lot and this will prevent that. Also if you have a set of gear you like, then get a new piece, you gotta go find a similar shader. Thats fine if you are rocking cryptographic, got bazillions, but what about superblack, or other rare shaders?

A kiosk would be a compromise i could get behind.
