My Routine (before getting a full armor set) (Destiny)

Grab a "collect glass pyramids" patrol mission. Kill stuff while waiting on the public event, but leave the collectibles on the ground. Complete the public event for 3 renown, pick up the collectibles for renown level 4, then grab a "kill stuff" patrol as you head into the Lost Sector. By the time you reach the end of the Lost Sector, you've completed the patrol and reached 5 renown.

Once I had a full armor set, just doing the PE and grabbing a "kill stuff" bounty on the way into the Lost Sector was enough to hit 5 renown.

Not incredibly useful info now, but maybe next time if they don't change things up too much.
