Another solution (Destiny)

I don't think it's impossible; I have heard groups defeating Oryx with everybody under 310 light. They simply had to resort to interesting strategies. I don't know a ton about how they do it (I'd rather figure it out myself), but I do know that there is room to get creative.

Everything up to Oryx on Heroic can be done by a fireteam between 300 and 310, but the Oryx fight has 320 enemies and I'd say that 306 is an absolute minimum, with things getting markedly better over 310.
