Roland has kept us in the loop, but avalanches of work, stress, and telekinetic Psions has kept us from posting about the new Guardian Radio episodes. Hope your ears didn't have anything planned for a while!
Episode 79 - Episode 80 - Episode 81
Whoops! We missed posting about Guardian Radio Episode 77 last week! I wonder what we were doing... Also roland let us know about Episode 78, and here is his description:
Destiny has been deployed and this week we officially come to you LIVE from the Tower. This week we catch you up on the latest news surrounding the game and then dive in to our first impressions of the game. With one week under our belts we have a lot to say about Bungie’s shared world shooter. We share both the good and the bad but see that this is clearly a fantastic starting point for what is sure going to be one hell of a ride for the next 10 years.
Act now! Buy Destiny for your past gen console and we'll throw in a copy of Destiny for current gen ABSOLUTELY FREE! That's TWO Destinies for the price of ONE! But this deal WON'T last forever! So pick up that controller! Servers are standing by!
As usual roland stopped by our forums to inform us about another great episode of Guardian Radio! Since this is their last episode before the launch they cover their launch day plans, as well as covering the latest news on Destiny. Go give it a listen!
Looks like Microsoft is going to allow pre-loading on the Xbox One after all! Looking on the Xbox One store you can see the game is now available for digital preorder as well as new text that says:
"Xbox One Game expected to release on 9/9/2014. You may download the game from Xbox Live before then, but it will not be playable until 12:01 AM PDT/3:01 AM EDT on the release date."
Update: Microsoft clarified the preloading and preordering for Destiny: "We're thrilled to make Destiny available for pre-order and pre-download for Xbox One owners around the world. This option was available for a short period of time before the official pre-order window opened. We'll have more details to share soon about the pre-order and pre-download window for Destiny."
roland stopped by the forum to let us know that Guardian Radio #74 has been posted online. This week they went through the newly released trailers for Destiny with Datto. Great show as usual, go give it a listen!
SteelGaribaldi dropped by our forums showing off a spreadsheet he created to help him manage his inventory and equip the best weapons and gear for the right character (apparently everyone doesn't just choose the coolest-sounding name like me). You can snag a copy from him and customize it for your own Guardians. His post will walk you through all the details. Neat!
The Destiny Beta contains 6 separate 'cutscenes' - we've put together a gallery for those who want access to them. They're streamable, but they're also downloadable (up to 1080p). Swing by and see what's available! Thanks tremendously to Cody Miller for recording these in 7.1 (or 5.1, occasionally) Surround Sound.
TechRadar has a fun piece in which Eric Osborne reassures fans worried about a low level cap in Destiny that there will be more than enough to keep them entertained:
"We've named a raid, but that's just one of the examples of the kind of stuff we want to give player," he said. "Once they reach what they believe is the peak in the game, then we really just want to blow their minds with a whole bunch of crazy, like, 'Now go try that!'"
Not too much longer to wait until we get to experience that for ourselves! Thanks, bluerunner.
2good4u2 mixed up some official footage with some Alpha footage, and set it all to... well, go listen. (Watch it all the way through.)
Roland let us know that the latest episode of Guardian Radio is out:
This week we share with you all our E3 plans. If you missed the announcement on Twitter this past week, Mark and Craig are two of the Destiny Mentors who have been teased by DeeJ in the past few Bungie Weekly Updates. Sitting in with the crew is Cozmo, founder of the reddit.com/r/DestinytheGame Subreddit and another member of the Bungie E3 Mentor team. He helps us break down the latest Bungie Weekly Update, the latest Destiny news, and answer your questions and comments.
Whoa, that Bungie E3 Mentor team sounds pretty cool! Rumor has it one of the unmentioned team members is astonishingly handsome, humble, and subtle. Then again, there are always a ton of ridiculous rumors before E3...
In the latest episode of Guardian Radio, the crew is joined by "Master of Blood" from StarSide Echoes (a Playstation clan) to discuss Friday's Bungie Weekly Update and the recent rumblings of the employee-only Destiny Alpha. Go listen! (Thanks, roland.)
According to Gamespot, Destiny has become the first game on the PS4 to support preloading - the ability to download a digital title before release, so that you're ready to play on Launch Day. Not a bad reason to buy your copy from the PlayStation Store!
Josh Hamrick of Bungie made note of it on his Twitter, but our local Xenos, Lord Commander of the News Watch, also discovered from Reddit what many Playstation users are starting see: Destiny will be able to be pre-loaded to your console starting September 4th.
Purebred rock hound roland let us know that the latest episode of Guardian Radio is now available; this week the guys are joined by community member Rex Smaals of PrimeGuard/PrimeCast to discuss the usual slate of Destiny news and BWU breakdowns. Give it a listen!
The latest episode of Guardian radio has been deployed. In this episode Byf presents his theories on the origin of The Fallen, which leads to some pretty interesting discussion. Go listen! Thanks, petetheduck.
Breitzen showed off his customized DJI Phatnom 1 VTOL quadcopter in our forums:
Looks cool! But I am a little frightened that if I kill his Guardian in the coming beta he'll send his drone after me in real life...
This week's recording of Guardian Radio was exceptionally awesome - I should know, because I was there! You can download the episode at the Guardians of Destiny website, or watch a video version (with chat) over on Youtube. Be sure to leave a nice comment applauding the show's sudden rise in quality of guest appearances!
Destiny Time! C'mon, grab your friends; we'll go to very distant lands. With Jake the Titan and Finn the Hun-ter, the fun will never end; it's Destiny Time! (KL45H is the mind behind this awesome Adventure Time crossover, and you can check out the full image over on Deviant Art. Much love to Hedgem0ny for finding this gem!)
Hmmm, there's something oddly familiar about this "Galactic Sniper" minifig by Brick Affiliation. (Nice find, Hedge.)
In a shocking turn of events, we find our heroes facing yet another episode of the Guardian Radio podcast. This time, the hosts were joined by Bungie fan John Hogan, co-creator of the Destiny Community Hub App. Check out the episode over on iTunes or at TheGuardiansOfDestiny.com. (Thanks, roland.)
Pyromancy saw a 30 second TV spot on Fox tonight - it showed up right before the reboot of Cosmos, and it featured Destiny. When we find a copy of the ad, we'll let you know!
Roland is rolling out (get it?) the next season of Guardian Radio with this one so while I can't listen to it at the moment, I'm sure the news recaps and ensuing discussion will be worth a listen! Direct link to its spot on their site is... here.
roland let us know that The Guardians of Destiny have released their 50th podcast - and while there's not a huge amount of Destiny content (because there's not a lot of Destiny news this week), there is some fun stuff. Read his post for details, and links!
In a shocking turn of events, the Guardian Radio crew has released another episode of their Destiny podcast. I'm starting to think this is going to become a weekly thing...
