I was just sarcastically pointing out some more stupid Microsoft news in response to narc's comment about useless features cluttering the dashboard. They filed patents last year on an achievements/reward system for watching television, movies, and advertisements.

"To increase interactive viewing and encourage a user to watch one or more particular items of video content, awards and achievements may be tied to those items of video content."

"Additionally, by tying the awards and achievements to particular items of video or advertising content, viewers may be encouraged to increase their viewership of the content, thus increasing advertising opportunities,"

Oh yay, finally I can earn an achievement for watching advertisements or the latest episode of [Sponsored Television Show]. Microsoft is trying to sell the Xbone as this all-encompassing television/movie/phonecall media-center, when it seems like literally no-one cares about all that shit in a gaming console.
