So far this isn't true. Have you invested serious time into both? Because I have and the cave gives a much higher drop/hour than reps/marks. Doing bounties very rarely provides any types of drops (it's dependent on the type of bounty obv.), and the loot cave provides about 4 or 5 every 10 minutes. Plus a huge bonus to your Cryptarch rank which pays out with 3+ engrams at every level.

Bounties don't provide drops. They gain you Rep so you can purchase gear from vendors. The time spent getting tons of worthless drops at the loot cave could be spent raising your Rep so you can buy useful Legedary weapons or gear.

Your point on the cryptark rank is valid, but im at rank 4 or 5 just playing normally. His rank is much less important than your faction rank or your Vangard rank.
