Play the way that is the most fun for you. You need Legendary and exotic after 24. You won't get those at the cave.

If he's getting strange coins in the drops he will. Plus cryptarch ranks give legendary engrams, and the all can't be blue, right?

My grind of the cryptarch is buying guns for parts and class items. Got to do something with all that glimmer.
