Similarly, I don't understand how these streams were a hype marketing train. They were all pretty matter of fact and straightforward. They showed a trailer. They showed live gameplay. They explained the changes they would make. They did some terrible "surprise" reveal reactions, but at the end of the day it was just saying there is a third page of the vault.
You are 100% right. All they did was explain things. You can see my post to see why that in itself is kind of lame, but even more so, the medium in which they explained things was the exact one they used for other major content releases. That colors expectations more than the words they used.
I'm only reflecting on how my sense of joy is heightened when there is stuff to discover. Sure my participation in communities like this makes it very likely that I will know everything beforehand and that is definitely on me. That being said, when the town crier goes down my street, its hard to ignore him.
