We caught up with community member Stephen Laughlin and asked him to share his thoughts on Destiny and E3 overall. Check it out!
E3 2013 was home to many incredible sights, but the Destiny rotunda or 'ronut' experience was probably the most impressive part of the show. The theater provided a sensory overload - air would blast in your face as space ships flew by, the floor would rumble, the screen filled your entire field of view and the audio penetrated your earlobes from every direction. Watch as the Traveler enters our solar system...
If you're interested in just the audio, that's available by itself, as well:
Dean Takahasi, writer for Venturebeat, shared his thoughts one Destiny's E3 reveal. He has a lot of positive things to say, but he also expected a little more from Bungie.
This is one of the tough things about operating an MMO. The technology will eventually start lagging behind single-player games. And when that happens, the MMO has to have its hooks in its players, or it will lose them. I don’t see the hooks yet for Destiny. They might be there, but Bungie has to show them.
Space magic, Dean… space magic.
E3 is over and there are only 19 shopping days left until Bungie Day. If the recent gameplay reveal left a few questions rattling around your skull, be sure to deposit them in this week's Mail Sack thread.
Joystiq's Alexander Sliwinski posted an video interview with Chris Butcher, engineering lead at Bungie, about game concepts and how the social components of Destiny work. Check it out!
Greenskull put together a Destiny E3 recap video - if you need to catch up on Destiny news then this is worth checking out.
The guys at Guardian Radio sat down with DeeJ during E3 for a chat about everything Destiny. It's a great interview, with DeeJ demonstrating his skill at crafting elegant descriptions of potential game sessions. (Thanks, roland)
UncookedMoa wanted to share their fan-made Destiny trailer, "We Are Guardians", featuring "Final Hour" by X-Ray Dog. I think the result is pretty slick! Check it out!
A third behind-the-scenes video has been posted to the Bungie YouTube channel; this one focuses on the away team responsible for showing Old Russia to a horde of lucky E3 attendees!
Looks like we spoke a touch too soon, as Bungie also put up "That's a Wrap", capping off their E3 recap series. Go enjoy! I know the DBO community is especially thankful for all the magic that Bungie provided the world over this past week. Can't thank them enough, and couldn't be more excited to await our Destinies...
Bungie has put up their E3 Day 3 recap video. Go and check out SPACE MAGIC!
Destiny Updates dropped by the forum to let us know that he's put together a roundup video covering pretty much everything we learned about Destiny from E3. Turns out there was quite a bit!
This one managed to slip through the cracks! Back on Tuesday, Bungie did an encore performance of the Destiny demo on the Sony stage at E3, followed by a PlayStation Blog interview with DeeJ. You can catch the whole presentation below, or you can skip straight to the interview at 15:12 (thanks, Xenos).
In addition to the Ronut video from yesterday, Bungie has posted three more E3 Day 2 videos on their YouTube page! Give them a gander:
Looks like the PlayStation team wanted to thank Bungie for appearing at the Sony press conference by giving them an awesome custom PS3. Very cool!
Bungie has posted a Day 2 E3 ReCap Video; this episode features an animation about the Traveler arriving in the Solar System, accompanied by some beautiful Marty music. (Thanks, MrDaax).
Polygon has an in-depth article from E3 covering Destiny and what its success means to Bungie. It's a well-written article that covers a lot of content and takes a slightly different tack than most of the E3 coverage we've seen. It even sounds like they may have had some hands-on time with the demo! If you only read one article about Destiny from E3 this week, this article should be on the short list. (Thanks, Xenos).
Our Grizzled Ancient and his fearless Vanguard were prominently featured in Bungie's "E3 Day 1: ReCap" video! Thanks for noticing, Spawn!
Mid7night was been recording his week at E3 and has posted some videos and images for all of us to be jealous of check out!
Additionally, if you haven't been following the Vanguard Report, be sure to hop over there to see some E3 photos from the DBO crew.
Be sure to check out both!
The ever-darling DeeJ has seen fit to bestow upon our awaiting earballs and eyeholes a minor trilogy of video featurettes chronicling the early goings of E3 setup and facilitation. Take a look at Booth, Press Rooms, and Rehearsal. May the Vanguard watch over you with vigilance and mercy as you view them.
The Bungie Away Team is busy this week; the latest interview to hit our screens is GameInformer talking to Harold Ryan. Note that they've edited-out the questions, so it's just Harold giving answers back-to-back. The editing sort of breaks the continuity of the demo, but the piece still offers some fresh perspective on the news that we've been hearing out of E3.
The line for the Destiny booth has a neat slideshow showing off an armful of the weapons you can see in the demo. DattoDoesDestiny put together a video that'll give you the rundown, so check it out! (Thanks, electricpirate.)
Adam Sessler hosted a great interview with Joe Staten yesterday. It's the same format we've seen before with the interview happening over the E3 demo and Adam asks some good questions while letting Joe expand on the discussion. Be sure to give this one a viewing! Thanks (again), electricpirate!
The E3 Destiny interviews are rolling in! Bruce Green from Machinima talked to Pete Parsons yesterday for about 15 minutes, covering an array of topics including the campaign/multiplayer dynamic and the scale of playable space in Destiny (among others). Thanks, electricpirate.
