Sony kicked off their E3 2014 Press Conference with a Destiny trailer that sheds a little more light on the story behind our Guardians and the world we'll be exploring, and Bungie posted it to their YouTube page almost immediately. What are you waiting for? Go check it out!
The folks over at the official Twitch blog have posted their broadcast schedule for E3, and it looks like Destiny will have a 20-minute slot starting at 2:00 pm PT on Tuesday, June 10th. It's not clear what exactly will be shown, but you might want to tune in at twitch.tv/Twitch just in case it's something epic. (Nice catch, ridum!)
If you live in the UK (or Ireland), GAME might be able to get you to E3 - they're offering an all-expense-paid trip for two in a giveaway that requires you only to do some tweeting (and following). Nice! (When I mentioned this on our forum, Doooskey pointed out that EA was offering a similar deal here in the US, as well... sign up!)
Another in this impromptu 'Wednesday Art Round Up' from our dear Hedgem0ny. This here's a 3D model created by OnyxGiant and posted on his CGHub page. It's an original design inspired by Destiny's Warlock class, with loot, Ghosts, and guns:
3D-artist Javelin/Dustin Gagner shared his recreation of a piece of Bungie concept art from their GDC panel to the Bungie.Net Forums. You can check out more views and in-progress shots on his blog. Holy crap.
Hedgem0ny, longtime Bungie fan and amphibious storyteller, was reminded of something from Halo 3 at about 30 seconds into the video from yesterday and decided to elaborate:
Hint: it's the memorial hologram suspended in the Halo 3 map, Epitaph. Whatever that structure is in Destiny, it's definitely beaming with the ancient civilizations and mysterious intelligences Bungie is known for... Unless it's just the Fallen's outhouse.
Creative Screenwriting has posted an interview they did with Bungie writer Joseph Staten during E3. It's pretty short and covers much of the same ground as previously posted E3 chats, but Joe has a way with words that makes every conversation sound fresh and exciting. (Thanks, marmot 1333.)
It's hard to believe we're still getting content from E3, but T3CHNOCIDE over at Destinypedia has posted an interview he did with Bungie president Harold Ryan. You can listen to the audio (.ogg, 56.9KB) or look through the text transcript T3CHNOCIDE put together. It's a great read, despite the late arrival; Harold shares some really interesting thoughts here!
Issue 100 of the independent UK magazine "X360" prominently features Destiny on the cover - complete with an absurdly sensationalist headline! The main article within covers the usual post-E3 details (which won't be new to most DBO readers), but the interview with Harold Ryan provide some interesting quotes, at least. This issue is on sale in both print and digital forms from the X360 website. (As always, please refrain from posting scans of paid material on our forum.)
UnrealCh13f got invited to the Microsoft Press Conference at E3 last month, and parlayed it into a full day of activities - and yesterday he wrote up that experience (with pictures!) and posted the result on our forum. After reading, I am reminded of Duncan's assertion that people are the greatest part of E3 - he's absolutely right, and UnrealCh13f's recap shows it clearly. Check it out!
This isn't a Dragonball Online E3 interview, this is one man's coming-of-age story...well, not really. E3 2013 was an incredible experience and we wanted to share some of those experiences with you. Behold!
The Electronic Entertainment Expo isn't all fun and games. Well, maybe it's all fun - but it isn't all about the games. I'm risking my life telling you this, but there is a secret buried deep within the Los Angeles Convention Center, a secret that four members of the DBO admin team were able to discover with the help of a few friends. Attached is a 3,300 word exposé that reveals the truth about gaming events, conveniently disguised as a rambling collection of stories from my summer trip to E3. I hate to be a whistleblower, but it's only a matter of time before the next major event takes place and the sooner we get word out the better. Good luck.
Bungie Week just keeps on giving! There's a new video up on Bungie.net today, titled Destiny: Building the E3 Reveal. Join Bungie vets Ryan Ellis, Marke Pedersen, and Michael Zak as they watch the E3 gameplay reveal and discuss the visuals and gameplay in next year's highly-anticipated avian simulator! There are certainly a few new tidbits in here, so be sure to keep your ears open! (Thanks, Mid7night)
For the second day of Bungie Week festivities, Bungie has posted the Official Destiny Gameplay Reveal video to their YouTube page in all of it's HD glory. Also, be sure to check out the news post on Bungie.net.
The bumper at the end of the video also teases a "Building E3 Reveal" video, with a placeholder that says "Coming Soon". Hmm, I wonder what that's about... (Thanks, SigbiasSilva).
The Escapist : Escapist News Now : Destiny E3 2013
Kotaku's Stephen Totilo wrote up his private walkthrough of the E3 Destiny demo - if you've been following E3 coverage, you likely won't learn TOO much new, but you never know. There are lots of tidbits. Go read!
It seems that interviewing Chris Butcher is the popular thing to do these days - New Zealand media outlet 3 News posted the video of a chat they had with the expatriate Bungie employee during E3. If you're too distracted by the background noise (i.e. the booming rotunda speakers on the other side of the wall), the interview is also available in text form. (Thanks, marmot 1333.)
Australian gaming site AusGamers recently interviewed Chris Butcher, a former New Zealand resident we now know as the Engineering Lead at Bungie; the resulting transcript is chock-full of exciting details about Destiny. I get the feeling this article will spawn a wave of discussion on our forum, since Xenos has already kicked things off with a thread highlighting his favorite quotes. Read the AusGamers interview, then speculate away!
Lou Kesten, video game reviewer for The Associated Press, wrote a short article focusing on E3 showdowns and Bungie's new game came out victorious in his "Titanfall vs. Destiny" category! (He only provides one short paragraph of justification, so unfortunately there's not much to go on. I know the Bungie E3 crew had a lot of nice things to say about Titanfall though.)
DeeJ and Urk play the part of good cop/bad cop in this high-energy interview that "Angry Joe" shot during E3. Despite the recent deluge of E3 videos, this chat proved to be highly entertaining; check it out! (Thanks again, Xenos.)
The E3 interviews continue to surface, as tech site Digital Trends releases a chat they shared with the ginger-bearded man we call Urk. The conversation sticks to the same topics we've grown fond of over the past two weeks, but it's always nice to get yet another chance to hear about the game we're eagerly awaiting. (Thanks, Xenos.)
ncsuDuncan, GrimBrother One and Bed Errera sum up their E3 2013 experiences. My only question is, what exactly does Claude need to build up before Destiny comes out?
Gametrailers is running a 'Best of E3 2013' awards ceremony - Destiny was nominated in the following categories:
Unfortunately Destiny didn't win best new IP or best graphics, but the nominations are still pretty neat. Gametrailers will announce 'Best of Show' today at 4pm PST.
