Bungie tweeted about their new page dishing out some info on the freshly-announced The Taken King expansion and the Legendary Edition (think Game of the Year compilation), not to mention a special Collector's Edition including lots of physical goodies as seen below. Avateur started a thread on it in our forum.
Check out the latest message from MIDA Industries:
The ‘Multi-Tool’ interfaces with all current tactical sensoria to provide real-time combat data, significantly bolstering the limited computing power available to Guardians working in the field. The Multi-Tool is a Guardian’s best friend, able to adapt to any situation a Guardian may find themselves in.
Fan content never ceases to amaze me!
For those that want to pour over the stream for details, or who just missed it the first time, Bungie has posted the Trials of Osiris stream on Youtube!
Miss the stream? Stop by our forum thread on it to see what you missed! Also make sure to head over to Bungie.net's House of Wolves page to check out information on the Trials as well as pictures of the new maps that will be included in the expansion! And last but not least head over to the Playstation Blog to see a little bit about the Playstation exclusive Crucible map!
This is pretty amazing - YouTube user TerraMantis has put together the story of Crota, the Light Eater, in a seriously beautiful way. It's a tale told with content from Bungie-released videos, self-recorded gameplay, Grimoire cards, and just plain creativity. It's the linear tale as Bungie wrote it, but didn't provide to us. Go watch. Thanks to Blackt1g3r for finding it.
IGN caught up with Deej at PSX 2014, and let him elegantly ramble for a bit. It's a great little interview and really drives home that there isn't any chance that Bungie's ignoring players' wants and complaints. The Dark Below sounds like its going to be a step in the right direction in terms of a more sucinct and connected story. Deej also touches on possibly expanding your vault, the approach to the new Raid, and more. (Thanks Fuzzle)
io9 has an opinion piece on genre storytelling in general, with a paragraph regarding Destiny specifically. The author thinks there's too much world/system/galaxy/universe-saving going on and the sci-fi and fantasy genres would benefit from more personal and relatable stories. It's also kind of interesting as the article uses DBO's own personal Twitter background as an illustration for the article, huh! Thanks to Malagate for pointing it out.
Wired has a great article about the history of Bungie and how they got to the point they're at now, about to release Destiny. Covers a lot of history as well as talks about their mindset in building Destiny. (Thanks to GrimBrother IV for pointing it out on the forum)
GameStop's latest incentive to drag your money towards them involves an exclusive "Blacksmith" color shader for your Guardian. Get it by pre-ordering Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare... Wait, what? Thanks, INSANEdrive.
DeDerga let us know that ThreeA, one of the companies who has made Halo Action Figures in the past, just announced 1/6 scale Destiny Action Figures! No details at all so far. I'm personally curious about how customizable they'll be given the nature of Destiny.
Gamereactor interviewed DeeJ at Gamescom about some things to expect in Destiny when it launches. Interesting information in there, such as the confirmation of checkpoints in Raids, but the checkpoints won't last forever.
Gamestop posted a video of the exclusive red Sparrow you get for pre-ordering on youtube. Not anything new really, but if your pre-ordered from Gamestop you can see in detail what your ride will look like.
While talking to TotalXbox.com Jonty Barnes cleared up a question a lot of Bungie fans have had about the leaked contract with Activision, namely: is Bungie working on a new Marathon game.
“I think it’s very hard to imagine anything detracting from our focus on Destiny right now, I think we've got really ambitious plans going forward."
Jonty Barnes sat down with The Sixth Axis at Gamescom to discuss how well the Destiny beta went, and how that will affect the game in the long run. A lot of good information on topics that haven't been thoroughly covered elsewhere!
DattoDoesDestiny has always been good at digesting new Destiny info, and helping the rest of us make sense of it all. His analysis of elemental weapon damage is no exception - even Bungie was impressed! Give it a watch, and you'll have a much better grasp on Solar, Arc, and Void damage.
IGN has a new video up of a walking tour of the Tower given by urk. It covers lots of details which may already be old hat to those who've been enjoying the beta thus far; but also teases some "freaky" stuff that might interest even those well acquainted with the Guardians' refuge above the city. Go take a look! (Thanks goes to bluerunner in our forum.)
One of the things we came home with after E3 was a T-shirt stash... and we want to share it with you. Bungie had a life-size Sparrow on display in the lobby of the LA Convention Center, and folks were able to take pictures riding it. mastrbiggy likes to see me humiliated, so he's come up with the following contest: Photoshop the image above (click for full-size), post the result (and your T-shirt size) on our forum, and you could win a show-specific Destiny T. (It's the same design as this Tricorn Baseball shirt, except that the shirt is grey, the design is white, and the sleeves are short.)
Bungie.net user Irish Liberty unleashed a salvo of gorgeous wallpapers for everyone to download and share. You can find all five images in this gallery, so adorn your desktop with the textures of your favorite class!
DattoDoesDestiny took a pretty careful look at the Devil's Lair video released on Monday - it's nearly a guarantee that if you watch it, you'll learn something you didn't know before. So go watch it!
