If you're reading this, you probably know that the Iron Banner is back - and it's full of Crests. Swing by Bungie.net (or our own Weekly Update Archive) for the latest 'This Week At Bungie' report, which reminds you about IB, and then goes on with some pretty fascinating news - the Hard mode Raid will unlock on October 18 (a week from this coming Tuesday). Between now and then is another Bungie Bounty event - this one's on the Playstation 4, and will take place next Wednesday (October 12), at 10am Pacific. Be there or be... um, all the shapes on the Shock Controller buttons. As always, there's a report from the Support team, and some pretty cool fan-created movies. Bite-sized Backstory - Grimoire for those with less time
Ragashingo is doing his best to make the backstory of Destiny, as presented in the Grimoire cards, more accessible to the rest of us. A few days ago, he started a series on our forum called 'Bite-sized Backstory' - and it contains easily-digestible chunks of the Destiny universe, with sources (if you want to check up on his facts). The weekly update has been posted at Bungie.net - It's got a ton of interesting stuff! Trials of Osiris is back this weekend, and Iron Banner returns next week. There are also a list of known issues in the game (worth reading), a tally of the fastest teams to finish the new raid, and some fan-created movies. (The last one appears to have been filmed during the Raid - if you're still blind, hold off on that one.) As always, you can find a local copy in our update archive.
Bungie dropped a Hotfix this morning - mostly, it's small bugfixes in strikes and PvE activities (but if you're affected, most will make you happy). With perhaps one exception... if you hadn't taken your opportunity to farm Omnigul for a Grasp of Malok before now... sorry. That time has passed. Cody Miller has once again dropped off beautiful, high-res versions of the latest cutscenes; we've added all 6 of them to our Cutscene Library. You can stream them from here, or download them in 1080p, 720p, or 360p. All have full 5.1 surround sound audio. Enjoy! (And thanks, Cody!)
We neglected to mention the weekly update Bungie dropped yesterday - but you should go read it, if you haven't already. Not surprisingly, it focuses on Rise of Iron. (The Raid drops today!) There's some super-cool concept art, a list of support issues still on the table (or resolved), and some fun fan videos. As always, there's a local version if you need it.
Been digging the new tunes when you boot up Destiny? Want to feel like an Iron Lord whenever you put on your headphones? Then prepare yourself for great news: the Rise of Iron soundtrack is now available for purchase! But that's not all; order now, and you'll get an exclusive in-game emblem to let others know that your love of Destiny music is serious. Want to try before you buy? Bungie has uploaded the entire soundtrack to Youtube for your listening pleasure.
The Bungie Store has also received a refreshed stock of loot that was available at PAX, so get while the getting's good!
Wondering what new content is coming to a PS4 near you with the launch of Rise of Iron? Sony has released a trailer for the Playstation exclusives included in the upcoming expansion (as well as the Collection bundle). The Mercury aesthetics never get old, and Icarus sure looks... Sublime. Only three days left, Guardians!
Bungie appears to have launched an ARG this afternoon to get the community buzzing in preparation for Rise of Iron.

This week's update talks about the Rise of Iron soundtrack (coming soon to a Bungie Store near you), recaps the update info we posted yesterday, summarizes the new Achievements/Trophies coming in Rise of Iron, lists some known issues with the new update, and covers the staples we see every week (Challenge high scores, fan videos). Man... that last video... I think I might have rage quit if I'd been on the other team. Anyway, go read! Good stuff.
The Update that dropped yesterday, in preparation for Rise of Iron, contains issues that were unexpected - by fans, and by Bungie. Stuntmutt puts it pretty succinctly:
Bungie's been busy - there is both an Update Preview, discussing the reasons behind some of the changes that are being made in preparation for Rise of Iron, and an actual Update, listing the specific changes, available on their site. (Local versions of both pages - the update preview and the full update - are also available in our Patch Notes Archive.) Bungie let folks know about a Cosplay meetup on Saturday, and some awesome costumes showed up - but so did a large number of unadorned Destiny fans. When the official gathering was finished, BaghdadBean used her outside voice to wrangle everyone remaining into a small enough space that photos could be taken (and then TOOK the photo). Click on the image for a stupid-large version (5648x2120, 8.5 mb) so that you can see the amazing detail in some of these outfits (and faces of folks you might know!). See if you can find the young Saladin with inadvertent horns!
I'm phoning it in this year - literally typing this from the convention show floor on a 5" screen. It's time for PAX, and the weekly update from Bungie reflects that fact! Community meetups, a local Rumble tournament, special shwag... the weekend is full. If you're not in Seattle, don't worry - there's news about other stuff, too. A Private Match livestream from MLG is happening soon. Bungie commissioned a pretty amazing axe, and there's a video showing how it was made. Tips, as always, are available from the Player Support team. Scores for the top Challenge of Elders players are available for perusal. Videos from fans are included. And images from last week's DestinyCon have been added in. All in all, a full update! There's a local version, as you might expect.
A conversation about special weapons drew out a strip from Stuntmutt - he claims to have been holding it back for the right moment, but mostly I think he likes poking me. Well, all of us, but me especially.
This Week At Bungie, the regular collection of "things you should be paying attention to" Bungie posts every week, was released yesterday, as is usual for a Thursday. Check it out - it contains a couple of really cool sections. The first one details some of the shwag you'll be able to buy if you're lucky enough to be coming to PAX next week... while the second shows off some fantastic Rise of Iron artwork. (There's plenty of other stuff, too - help tips from the support team, top scores in Challenge of Elders, fan videos... you know.) Go give it a read! We've got a local copy, as well.
Whoops. Localized this yesterday, but forgot to actually mention it. Bungie's latest informational update is live - it contains some of the biggest info bits revealed at Gamescom this week (Private Matches in Rise of Iron, the new ViDoc, the Livestream), plus some extra fun stuff you may have missed if you don't follow Bungie on Twitter.
