TDSpiral shared a host of Daniel Chavez's work for Destiny that the artist has recently released. Some beautiful and mind-titillating stuff in there! Warning: lots of large images.
Fyrewulff's challenges site, Fire Team Zulu (FTZ) is back and ready for Destiny-participation (as well as other Bungie-related games). Play, achieve, win. Read his post for the details!
This rather cute video can give you the basic gist of Destiny's story setup VERY quickly. Thanks to GrimBrother IV for pointing it out. Fun!
io9 has an opinion piece on genre storytelling in general, with a paragraph regarding Destiny specifically. The author thinks there's too much world/system/galaxy/universe-saving going on and the sci-fi and fantasy genres would benefit from more personal and relatable stories. It's also kind of interesting as the article uses DBO's own personal Twitter background as an illustration for the article, huh! Thanks to Malagate for pointing it out.
B.Org regular, The Lionheart, showed us one of his coworker's woodburnings that highlights the game that's on all of our minds right now. Pretty neat!
The Destiny Facebook page has a new gallery of some of the cosplay and other excitement that's appeared outside Bungie's studios at today's community event, including a huge Fallen Skiff that's been built on site. So, uh, who gets to take that home? UPDATE: The gallery has been updated with a few more photos and some guy named Claude Errera (I think I know that name from a club I went to once) dropped by a few more pics of the Skiff.
It's an exciting time. The servers are live and it's release day in some places of the world. In the West, Bungie's about to open their doors to folks waiting for a chance inside. And for the game itself, Bungie has released notes for a day-one 1.01 patch. GrimBrother IV's already begun a discussion on the changes in the forum. The pilgramige is almost at an end... See you starside.
Ragashingo continues his series of thoughtful articles focusing on different aspects of Destiny's world. This time it's on the Cabal, who like the Vex, we probably know the least about... Well, at least for 48 hours!
Act now! Buy Destiny for your past gen console and we'll throw in a copy of Destiny for current gen ABSOLUTELY FREE! That's TWO Destinies for the price of ONE! But this deal WON'T last forever! So pick up that controller! Servers are standing by!
Wow. Bungie's opening their office doors to the fans the day before Destiny hits! If you're one of the first 300 attendees, you "stand a good chance" of coming inside and taking part in a tour and a Crucible match - Monday, September 8th, from Noon to Five. Oh, to live in Seattle...
You’re invited to be our guest, right here at Bungie. We’re throwing our doors open wide. Come and see where we work. Meet the people who have prepared Destiny for launch. Put your skills to the test in our arena. While you wait for your turn, anything can happen. It is, after all, a public event."
SigbiasSilva was first on our forum to post about it!
As we've noted before, Jonty Barnes told the press at Gamescom that Bungie heard the call for Guardian facial hair loud and clear from the community. Gamespot brought a few of these quotes together for a new article. Although a time table sounds indefinite, he says:
So we at least have that to look forward to at the End of Time! Thanks Jester GS!...I'm pretty sure by the end of time there will be plenty of beards in Destiny."
Hedgem0ny unearthed (via his Twittter) a nice piece of fanart by Dexter Orszagh. Move your eyes slightly lower to see it.
Bungie just posted a new live action trailer! Go watch a fireteam tear across the frontier with their guns and space magic! (GrimBrother IV pointed it out on the forums also)
Playstation is showing off the next piece of timed exclusive content, the Dust Palace Strike on Mars. They have posted a new video to Youtube walking you through the basics of the Strike. Thanks again to petetheduck!
As usual roland stopped by our forums to inform us about another great episode of Guardian Radio! Since this is their last episode before the launch they cover their launch day plans, as well as covering the latest news on Destiny. Go give it a listen!
The Playstation Blog posted a video walking through the Playstation Timed Exclusive Multiplayer Map: Exodus Blue. Go check it out on their site or see it below! (Thanks petetheduck)
SigbiasSilva saw a Bungie Informer Tweet showing off Jumpovertheage's Arcadia-Class Jumpship built from LEGOs. Lots of nice photos in this Flickr album!
Bungie has a panel at PAX today at Noon PDT, and even if you're in Seattle you can still watch it! Just go to this Twitch stream to watch! (INSANEdrive pointed it out for us in the forums, thanks!)
The Penny Arcade Expo has started, and I'm sitting here watching a User Research panel while grasping at every shred of internet connectivity I can find. If you're also in the Seattle area this weekend, join me and a few dozen of my friends for DBO's 2014 PAX Prime meetup at 8:00 PM on Saturday over at Garage Billiards. You can find more details on the bowling, billiards, and beers here on the forum. Hope to see some of you there!
GameStop's latest incentive to drag your money towards them involves an exclusive "Blacksmith" color shader for your Guardian. Get it by pre-ordering Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare... Wait, what? Thanks, INSANEdrive.
It’s a good, healthy dose of humbling fear. That allows us to create great risks."
Our spy in the wild, DaDerga, let us know of another interview with Jonty Barnes and Jesse Van Dijk, this time by MCV, that once again covers the same ground as the interviews we've been seeing lately. Still, you haven't been keeping track, here's another chance to catch-up!
GamingBolt wrote an article around a reddit user's discovery of a "Raid on the Moon" tab on Bungie.Net. Bolt strongly suggests that this implies there's more than just the Venus raid we know about at launch, but nobody really can say. Except Bungie, of course. Thanks to DaDerga for letting us know!
