Two weeks ago, Urk made an appearance on the PlayStation Blogcast for a fascinating discussion on his role as Community Manager. The next episode of the podcast debuted last week and featured another interview with a Bungie employee: Josh Hamrick! His segment starts at around 13:50 and lasts for roughly ten minutes. Go listen to the Senior Gameplay Designer talk about his verbs, his favorite guns, and how he landed a job at our favorite game studio!
Looking good, Hedgem0ny.
Remember that awesome Hunter mask Karin Olava built? If you were wondering how she made it, head on over to her Tumblr page for a quick synopsis of the steps taken and a nice collection of work-in-progress shots. Impressive craftsmanship, Karin!
We missed this earlier, but last week Edge interviewed Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg and it's no surprise that Destiny was a popular topic in the conversation. Check out the full article to get a little more insight into the relationship between the publishing company and Bungie!
On Tuesday, we linked to an IGN article containing comments from Eric Osborne about the Destiny Beta; it turns out the actual interview was done by Gamespot. Whoops! Check out their article for the full story.
DeeJ stopped by the Playstation.Blog to answer fan questions... and it's a great collection of information! Here's a taste:
@jaydawg6958: I like to play games solo often. How much can I do alone?
DeeJ: Ah, the proverbial Lone Wolf. You can experience Destiny’s story as a party of one, assuming you’re that much of a badass. Destiny will never require you to team up with other people in campaign missions. You’ll see other players along the way, but you can choose to ignore them. That said, we think you’ll find that playing with other Guardians is quick, painless, and a ton of fun. It’s always your choice, though.

IGN talked to urk about the upcoming Destiny Beta - sounds like it'll be pretty expansive, in comparison to older beta programs Bungie has run.
The Destiny beta, in many ways, is being treated like a full product launch.
I'm drooling already! Thanks, Mr Daax.
An updated Destiny release window was announced quietly at the end of the Moon trailer from this morning. Previously just "2014", the new release window is now "Spring 2014".
If the Destiny Beta has a similar lead time to the Halo 3 and Reach Betas, then we can probably expect the Beta in early Winter and a final release in mid-to-late Spring. Does anyone have a cryo chamber I can borrow for 3–4 months?
Retailers appear to be handling code handouts individually, but existing pre-orders should all be able to receive a code, even though you may have to go into the store to request one. Additionally, it appears that the beta codes are not tied to the same platform that you pre-order for, so you can purchase a next-gen copy and still participate in the Beta on your PS3 or 360.
Bungie released a new gameplay trailer today, focusing on the Moon, the Hive, and a new trio of Guardians. What are you waiting for? Go check it out! We'll wait... There's also a post on Bungie.net with some new Moon-themed wallpapers for your viewing pleasure.
A teaser trailer for tomorrow's new video release hit both Google+ (thanks, ZackDark) and Facebook - short and sweet. (And square.) Take a look!
It would seem this is going to be a busy week! DeeJ stopped by the PlayStation EU forums in the wee hours of the morning to give us our first look at the Destiny retail box art. In addition, it sounds like we'll be seeing a new gameplay trailer tomorrow and maybe even some pre-order announcements as well. Join the conversation in the forum and let us know what you think! Thanks to Hedge for the heads-up. [update!] Looks like Bungie will be taking us to The Moon tomorrow. Hat-tip to ZackDark in the forums.
I've got a massive backlog of news to post, but this is probably the most embarrassingly overdue item: Episode 30 of Guardian Radio is out, and the guest of honor is none other than yours truly. I had a lot of fun chatting with The Guardians of Destiny, so be sure to give this a listen! (Sorry for the delay, roland.)
A Reddit user noticed a really interesting sentence on the Destiny preorder site's news page (it's since been scrubbed) - apparently, on both the Canadian and UK versions of the site, at least until yesterday, there was mention of a Destiny Beta. On the UK site, it was just a link to a non-functioning page, with a 'Learn More' tag. On the Canadian site, the text invited you to "pre-order Destiny at select retailers and receive admission to the Destiny Beta". Again - all references are now scrubbed, which suggests that either this info was released early, or was a mistake altogether. Either way, it's a fantastic example of why you really, really, REALLY need to be careful what shows up on live versions of a website.
Destiny Updates took his time and broke down the Bungie Podcast - his summary boils down the hourlong discussion to an 11 minute series of highlights. As always, he's done a fantastic job of paying close attention and teasing interesting tidbits from Bungie's intentionally vague hints, tying together older info with new content. Go give it a watch!
As promised, the Last Mail Sack is upon us today. There are some questions related to the Podcast and a few amusing looks into life at Bungie, as well as a whole mess of beautiful Destiny wallpapers and more than a couple tidbits to whet our appetite for the return of the Weekly Update. Go check it out, and then send our dear 'ol Sack off in style in the forum!
What's better than a ridiculously sick community-built replica of "Thorn", the black-as-night afterlife-initiating hand cannon from Destiny? Not much. So. Awesome.
In the interest of speeding up processing, TeamBeyond's aPK has summarized the hour-plus Bungie podcast released Tuesday to a four-and-a-half minute recap, hitting all the high points. If you can't find the time to listen to the podcast itself, this vid should help you figure out what you missed.
Greenskull, from Ready Up Live, went back through all the Drawing Board entries and compiled a new video showing you each of the special weapons revealed thus far in that B.net series. A fine summary for those who need something quicker than reading!
An article of skill most sublime, this came in just in time,
For if we do not have a post for every day, all that was good in this website will fall away.
So let us thank Deej for pointing it out, in these days of Destiny drought,
As well as this poet for lyrics so sweet, that the reader must be sitting upon the edge of their seat.
Though, if tomorrow you do not hear from me a peep... Claude has likely strangled me in my sleep.
If you didn't already catch it on Bungie.Net, Joseph Staten, a creator, writer, designer, and voice actor every Bungie fan should know, whose excitement and creativity has inspired us for years now, is leaving Bungie for a new adventure. But through those teary eyes, just remember: we still have years of his contributions to Destiny to yet experience! And personally, I can't wait to see what else he accomplishes...
The Bungie Podcast is back, and with a considerable vengeance! Bless your earholes with the dulcet sound of the Bungie crew talking guns, guns, and more guns. It's been far too long to wait, but it's far to good to miss. Go listen now!
Three weeks ago, Bungie thanked the community for an amazing summer. Eager to return the favor, the fans over at Destiny Dispatch and Inside Destiny decided to thank Bungie with a montage of appreciative community members. Grab some popcorn and see what they pulled together!
