Xenos noted on the forum that GameSpot has an interview with Christopher Barrett and Joseph Staten discussing "world building" in the wake of their GDC presentation. The full-size Mail Sack promised earlier this week has dropped on Bungie.net. It looks like DeeJ and the crew have recuperated from last week's festivities and are back in action answering (cleverly dodging?) the Community's burning questions about Destiny and life at Bungie, all the while modeling the new Spring Fashion line of Bungie uniforms!

Last week at GDC, Gamespot had a (very) brief chat with Joe Staten on what he drew inspiration from while building Destiny's worlds. Longer-form narrative? Sounds great!
Sometimes things feel like they're moving really slowly... and other times, I'm blown away by the speed. TTL Demag0gue approached me, a couple of days ago, with the idea of a Fan Fiction section here at DBO. He was willing to do the setup and the maintenance - two tasks that scared me enough to think we might not ever get to one. I eagerly took him up on his offer - and thought that in a month or two, or maybe even a few weeks, if we were lucky, we could announce the new section. Instead, we're opening our doors today. The man's amazing! If you would like to submit content, it's pretty simple; just set up an account and submit your story. It will be reviewed, and if it meets the submission guidelines, we'll approve it and you'll find it on the Fan Fiction front page. A huge shout-out to TTL Demag0gue for making this possible so quickly (and so beautifully)!
If you missed it yesterday, be sure to check out Bungie's completely serious video on the Destiny character that was too good to live. (In a fitting sendoff, Tiger Man was automatically set as the default user avatar on Bungie.net for April Fool's Day. The option is still available if you'd like to commemorate the loss of this noble space creature/person.)

Guardians of Destiny have released their 6th podcast - Craig Hardgrove has become a permanent host on the show, which is fantastic. This episode looks closely at the GDC talk given by Chris Barrett and Joe Staten - great speculation! Thanks to Cambone for the heads-up.

Another April Fools has come and gone, and this time, the shenanigans seem to have brought the server to its knees. Who knew midi files and animated gifs could be so hard to handle? We hope you enjoyed the silliness. Regular activities will resume on Tuesday morning.

Joseph Staten and Christopher Barrett weren't the only Bungie presenters at GDC - Hao Chen was also on a panel with Umbra employee Otso Makinen. Polygon has an article summarizing the talk; it's a neat look into how Umbra and Bungie optimized the rendering techniques in Destiny's engine. (Thanks, Xenos.)

Kiefer I. stopped by the forum to let us know about a new piece of fan fiction that has been posted. It's a quick read at 3.5 pages and manages to pull a nice scene out of the scant plot details we've been given. Check it out!
This week's mail sack has been posted on Bungie.net and it answers a TON of questions - as long as all of those questions sound like "Are we there yet?". If you've already watched yesterday's GDC presentation, there's nothing new for you here beyond additional assurance that we'll see Bungie at E3. (If you HAVEN'T watched the GDC presentation, the mail sack provides yet another place to do so.)
While it's unclear if we'll get the actual powerpoint file, NeoGAF user Deadly Paw has the next best thing: a comprehensive collection of screengrabs from Bungie's presentation. Nice! (Don't forget, you can still re-watch the actual video on GameSpot.)
