I guess Stuntmutt was impressed with this week's reveal:
Game Informer's Destiny info dump continues today with an article about Destiny's new subclasses. Sage Merrill covers the decisions behind the new subclasses as well as some information you may not have known about them. (Thanks CyberKN for pointing it out)
Bungie is going to be revealing details about Destiny Year Two on Twitch today at 2PM EDT/11AM EDT. Watch on
Bungie has posted a short teaser on Youtube for the Destiny Year Two reveal that will be on Twitch tomorrow at 2PM EDT/11AM PDT. For coming in at under a minute there is a surprising number of things to see. Take a look:
Design Lead Lars Bakken sat down and talked to Game Informer about all the major changes that The Taken King will bring to the Crucible, whether that's new modes like Rift and Mayhem, or sandbox tweaks to Thorn and Blink. Great video! Electricpirate was first on our forum.
I feel as though Stuntmutt should be allowed to explain this one himself:
When I was a kid, I loved Marvel comics. I was always drawn to the ones that said 'Special Guest Star' on the cover, like when Spiderman would turn up in the Fantastic Four, or Thor would 'guest' alongside The Hulk. But Guest Star only ever put in an appearance for a couple of panels and was utterly inconsequential to the story. So I'd generally feel quite disappointed.
I like to think I've managed to capture the true essence of that experience here.
Game Informer has put up video previews of every new Crucible map (teasers that include the intro views and a couple of shots of gameplay) on one handy page. They take place in varied arenas across the system - click the link if you want to know exactly where! There's also a ship in one that looks familiar...
Bungie released a Hot Fix today, mainly to fix the Husk of the Pit not dropping during the Fist of Crota mission. They did put in a few small changes as well though, see the patch notes over at Bungie.net or read them below:

Something I think we're all excited about from The Taken King is the promised improvements to Destiny's campaign structure, as well as to the storytelling for The Taken King's campaign. Game Informer sat down with Luke Smith and Mark Noseworthy to discuss their plans. Also, pay attention to the video and you may catch a look at some new exotics coming as well. Go watch the interview! (Thanks to Speedracer for mentioning it on the forum)
Episode 6 of The Starside Lounge is posted! Special guest CruelLEGACEY (Nevin Douglas) joins Xenos, Claude, Leviathan, and Beorn to talk about this week's Destiny news from Gamescom and the Game Informer article.
*** SPOILER WARNING ***
In this episode, we talk in-depth about the Game Informer article, including PvE and PvP material that some may consider to be spoilers. If you want to approach The Taken King knowing as little as possible, you won't want to listen to this episode. HOWEVER, at 1:20:20 we mention a giveaway that you may want to hear about. That section of the discussion is spoiler-free.
To prepare for their coverage of The Taken King this month, Game Informer went to Bungie to play The Taken King for more than a day. The Game Informer Show (GI's podcast) discusses their experiences with the expansion and what they think of the upcoming content. It has good variety of opinions from someone who has played over 700 hours, to someone that didn't even finish the original campaign. Go see what they thought:
Want to win a copy of The Taken King Collector's Edition? Here's how: Kermit is relaunching the Deeply Flawed Raiders t-shirt design contest and is looking for design entries! The winner takes home a TTK Collector's Edition for their platform of choice and runner-up gets a DFR t-shirt once they're printed. Check out the forum post for instructions and get to designing! Entries are due August 10th (that's Monday, folks).
In the Taken King a brand new exotic is being introduced: The Sleeper Simulant, a Fusion Rifle that will reside in your heavy slot. In their continued coverage of The Taken King this month, Game Informer talked to Bungie about its design, how to get it, and took a look at it in action. There's even a video to see how it fires in game! Go take a look!
Stuntmutt distilled down the important bits from the news that came out this week:
As part of their IGN Live content at Gamescom, IGN interviewed DeeJ about The Taken King. As is the norm with these press interviews not a huge amount of new information, but there are some interesting things to note:
Thanks to Speedracer for pointing out the interview ahead of time.
Episode 5 of The Starside Lounge is already making its way out to a podcast player near you! This episode features our first-ever Community guests, Earendil and Speedracer, who help Xenos and Beorn discuss the Dreadnaught, weapon foundries, Bungie fandom, Trials of Osiris, and our wishes for Destiny, among other things. Go have a listen!
Gamescom seems to have put Bungie in a giving mood as in addition to the two other videos they've released today, they just posted the Prologue Cinematic for The Taken King! Watch to get a taste of how the next chapter of Destiny begins:
Thanks to CougRon for giving us a heads up.
GameInformer sat down with Luke Smith and asked him a series of (mostly) Destiny related questions. Some new tidbits of information, some humor, and some interestingly dodged questions. Go see for yourself!
If you pre-order the Taken King you get access to some Suros goodies, and Bungie has given us a glimpse at what we're getting in this brief teaser:
Korny pointed it out on the forum for us.Both a recap of year one of Destiny as well as a look at year two, this "We Are Guardians" trailer has the excitement dial turned up to 11. If you're wanting to stay completely unspoiled, you may want to skip for now as there are a number of shots of Taken King gameplay and a lot of glimpses of epic cinematics in the coming expansion. And when I say 'epic', it is not exaggeration!

Planning on going to DBO this year? Or just want an awesome shirt? Kanbo has designed a shirt for you to show where your allegiance lies! The shirt comes in two different qualities along with several color combinations to choose from! Go read his post for all the details!
Kidtsunami was first in our forum with the Game Informer article revealing that Year One Legendary weapons will not be able to ascend to Year Two standards. Start saying your goodbyes - but also start preparing for some "genuinely novel shooting experiences".
When The Taken King launches, you won't be hearing Peter Dinklage as your Ghost anymore - even if you start the game over. Nolan North (who Bungie fans will remember as Romeo from ODST) is not only recording the dialogue for your Ghost for the forseen future, but also re-recording all of the previous lines by Dinklage as well. (CougRon was first on our forum in reporting this huge news from Game Informer.)
