Jesse van Dijk, one of the main concept artists behind Destiny, has updated his portfolio with new Destiny pieces. There's some fantastic stuff in there, including some imagery I don't quite recognize, like the Vex Citadel exploding, that may hint at some things to come. But despite all the top-notch skills on display, this fun little piece below is my favorite!
How am I supposed to make a map cooler than that?
Bungie has announced the Dark Below DLC details on their site proper, with lots of shiny new graphics and glimpses of new gear.
Bungie has officially announced the Dark Below expansion which will include 3 new story missions, 3 new multiplayer maps, a new strike (and a second new time-exclusive strike for Playstation), and a new Raid. In addition the light level cap will be raised to 32, bounty slots will be raised to 10, and of course there will be many new items. Korny pointed out an interview with Harold Ryan detailing a lot of the information for us, and was kind enough to post some of the screenshots in his thread, and DaDerga let us know on his own. Thanks guys!
johnnygreek989 posted this piece of Destiny fanart in the style of a stained glass window over on his DeviantArt. Pretty original (and pretty too). Shamelessly discovered from Hedgem0ny's Twitter.
Dan de Board let us know that the presentation a few Bungie employees gave at this year's Vancouver Siggraph conference can now be experienced through a handful of slides at RealTimeRendering.com. At a quick glance, it looks like there's a lot of interesting stuff in there, including a glimpse at the testworld spaces used to prototype incoming content. Be sure to click on the images or "preview" in the PowerPoint to see the actual animations!
Community member Tex is raising money for Extra Life as she streams gameplay including that of Destiny, Halo, and maybe more. She's even giving away an Elgato HD game recorder, and all you have to do is donate. Read here for the details, and go give some high charity!
Roland clued us in to the latest Guardian Radio episode as usual - this week they're discussing, among other topics, the Raid tweaks that are inbound. Check out their site, or head to iTunes or YouTube to take a listen.
SilverBrin dropped by our forums, giving us a chance to listen to his fantastic re-imagining of a Destiny theme (now a classic if you find yourself in the Vanguard playlist a lot)!
Those crazy Rampancy kids are up to it again, this time taking their Let's Play series into the Ember Caves of Venus and the "Scourge of Winter" mission (probably the closest thing to the classic Truth and Reconciliation in Destiny).
More art direction talks thanks to Shutterstock! Christopher Barrett is the target of the interview this time and there's some fun insights in there, if it is a bit general. Chris's quote, "I think the more details you can put in the game that open up those questions and get people thinking about a world, without needing words, is great," really touches on one of the main aspects of Bungie that's kept me such a fan all this time. Found via Urk.
Digital-tutors talked to Shiek Wang, a grizzled Bungie employee you should all know for the visuals of Halo he helped define, about the art direction and production of Destiny. What was the approach to armor, weapons, and enemies? And did Bungie worry about veering too close to Halo? A short, intriguing read!
The only Bungie mission to contain a British Cortana (no, really, look it up), The Archive is Narcogen and Blackstar's focus in this episode of their Let's Play.
Roland let us know that Guardian Radio Episode 82 is up and that it's pretty special. Deej dropped by to talk with them and discuss the state of Destiny and community concerns. Go give it a listen!
Looks like Amazon now has a cover for the Art of Destiny book due out November 25th. Placeholder or the real thing - who knows? Regardless, I can't wait to read it / drool over it.
Frenden, an artist known for his digital brushes, posted a Destiny piece earlier today featuring a Bladedancer. Nice!
Bungie this morning tweeted a link to a video from the infamous Loot Cave:
The Destiny Dev Team posted the patch notes for the Destiny update going live tomorrow on Bungie.Net. This one's major adjustments are weapon balance, with the shotgun losing range and the auto rifle losing a few nuances of effectiveness (which hopefully leads towards some more weapon variety in matches!), but there's more fixes in there, too. Update: It's now in our patch notes archive.
Jon Goff of Bungie shared some neat cosplay he saw at New York City Comic Con on his Twitter.

There's one more photo in this tweet, too.
Roland has kept us in the loop, but avalanches of work, stress, and telekinetic Psions has kept us from posting about the new Guardian Radio episodes. Hope your ears didn't have anything planned for a while!
Episode 79 - Episode 80 - Episode 81
Narcogen let us know that him and Blackstar have continues their "Let's Play" series. This time around it's the mission, A Stranger's Call, one of my personal favorites for just how oppressive and insurmountable you felt the Vex were when they finally appeared in the game.
Take your levels and gear for all their worth into the battlefield and win some rewards from the noble Iron Lords (before they go back to Gondor & Winterfell).
... is now in our handy dandy Patch Note Archive. Lots of bug fixes!
