reddit/imgur user tsabotsaboc posted a gallery of images of Destiny weapons he's either created or helped to create. They're glorious! The reddit thread is pretty interesting reading, in itself; there's even a YouTube channel containing things like this time-lapse video showing the making of his Thorn hand cannon and a video demonstrating the effects on his Destiny swords. Explore! And maybe get inspired! Thanks, CheapLEY.
This week, Bungie wants to tell you about a new Destiny update, deploying next week, fixing a melee bug. (Yay!) There are more details in the weekly summary, along with reminders about Iron Banner, details about Challenge of Elders high scores, and fan-made movies. And some rumor-squashing, when it comes to release dates of upcoming content. Go read! If you'd rather, we have a local copy.
Bungie Foundation Highlighted in Make-A-Wish Newsletter
The good folks over at Make-A-Wish have decided to highlight the Bungie Foundation as a loyal supporter in their 30th Anniversary Newsletter. You can also get Bungie's account of the experience over at the Bungie Foundation's website. It's a great reminder of how our favorite developer gives back to the community with the help of their own loyal fans (you!).
The weekly recap from Bungie is light this time around - it focuses on Iron Banner, which drops again on Tuesday. This iteration is Clash-based, and a bunch of behind-the-scenes work should make it more rewarding than the last few runs. Read the update for all the details! There's also some interesting stats from the first week of Challenge of Elders, more details from the Help team, and some cool videos. Check it all out! (Local version, as usual, if you need it.)
Danny Greenan is an Environment Art student who built a spaceship interior, based on the Destiny universe. Looks pretty darned comfortable to me! Swing by ArtStation to see the full variety of pics. Thanks, Speedracer513.
Stuntmutt realized after creating this strip that there's no green Chroma. Sometimes you have to bend reality for the sake of a joke. (This probably wasn't one of those times, but we don't pay him enough to force him to fix it.)
As you might expect right after a game update, the weekly summary from Bungie focuses on that update. Some fun tweets showing off cool armor already acquired by fans, some bug status updates, and issues fans have run up against make up the majority of what's there. Cozmo's curated film clips round out the package (totally worth watching!). Go give it a read! We have a local copy, of course.
2.2.0 Patch Notes (The One About The April Update)
The long-awaited fix for Birth of History's sunroof has finally arrived! Bungie has posted the patch notes for today's Update over on Bnet. There are a handful of other changes in the notes as well (as if you could want more), so check out what else is in store! Thanks, CyberKN. (We have a local version, for those who prefer.)
Tomorrow is the big April update and we’ve got a new episode of The Starside Lounge for your listening (?enjoyment). Check it out below, or subscribe with your podcast player of choice!
On the eve of the April Update, the Destiny Live Team has come together to help make a final preview of what's in store for you tomorrow if you log in to Destiny (you know you want to). Give it a watch!
Okay, we're not reddit, and we don't really do AMAs, but Marty's a rebel, and he does what he wants. If you swing by our forum today, Saturday, April 9th, at around 4pm PDT, you'll find this guy hanging out, answering questions. About anything. (That's what the second A is in AMA, after all.) Ask him about Myth music, Oni music, Halo music, Destiny music, Golem music... or go wild! Ask him about stuff that's not even music! Prepare your questions... and then be here later this afternoon!
April Update's PS Exclusives: Zen and the Art of Exploding
Wondering what the April Update is bringing to the Playstation in terms of exclusive content? Playstation Blog has a list of the gear and quest coming on April 12. Start stocking up on those Sublime Engrams now to get the new armors!
There wasn't a whole lot of new information in today's "This Week at Bungie" -- mostly just a recap of yesterday's live stream, and some info about Bungie/Destiny-related offerings at the upcoming Emerald City Comicon (for those of you in the Seattle area).
Side-note: can anybody tell me where to get the amazing t-shirt that the lady warlock is wearing in that tweet at the top of the update?!!
To make up for a somewhat anemic TWAB (or THAB, if you prefer), however, the dev team also posted a very lengthy preview of the weapon balance and ammo economy changes coming in the April Update. This preview really gets down to the gritty details of what changes we can expect for our favorite weapons. I highly recommend checking it out, especially if you want to see just how ridiculously, overdominatingly prevalent the usage of Mida Multitool and 1000-Yard Stare have been in the Crucible lately. We have a local copy, as usual.
April Update Preview Stream (Sandbox & Crucible Changes)
Once more unto the Reef, dear friends, as the final preview stream on Twitch sees DeeJ joined by the likes of Design Lead Lars Bakken, Designer Grant Mackay, and Designer Jon Weisnewski as they discuss Crucible changes, Warlock tweaks (still #1!), and sandbox evolution.
I have a feeling that folks will not have sheathed their swords for lack of argument after this stream, so feel free to join the discussion over on the forum!
Michael Forgey worked for Bungie as a producer until he passed away due to cancer. Bungie (and other studios) are auctioning off some signed, rare memorabilia on eBay to help support his family. So if you have some money, want some cool things, and want to give to a good cause, you can see what's up for grabs here.
Confused about how reward packages will change on April 12? DeeJ has posted a detailed explanation of each faction's reward packages (and how much easier it will be to level them up). Give it a read, and go make a name for yourself!
Wow. I posted this earlier this morning - I guess the site's joke on me was to not actually save it. Almost made the headline even more true than it is! Stuntmutt sent the image below, along with the following note:
All we have to do is get through the next 24 hours without Bungie posting - 330 Year 1 weapons? APRIL FOOOOOOOOL...
This week's update consists of Chroma collectibles, content clarifications, and of course, a couple of Cozmo's collected clips. There's a recap of the Twitch Stream's reveals (as well as a Youtube version available for viewing), and quality images of the new PoE/Faction gear. There's also a chat with community member Datto, answering some lingering questions and concerns. Claude's always-reliable local version is available as well!
Good news for iPad owners; Bungie has updated the Destiny Companion App with a ton of new features, and lots of pretty bells and whistles. Swing by B.net for a full accounting, or just visit the iTunes store for a free download! (Works with the iPhone and the iPod Touch, as well, but it shines brightest on the iPad.)
Bungie's April Update Preview stream returns to Twitch, as the Update's new/updated gear and weaponry is shown off. Feel free to discuss the reveal over on the forum!
Stuntmutt sent along a Tuesday Vault of Farce; he suggested its tardiness (it arrived this morning) might be due to an overabundance of chocolate last weekend. Either way, it's totally appropriate for this week's King's Fall Challenge Mode... and I can't even tell you how many times I've lived through it.
The meat of this week's update consists of recaps, images, and clarifications regarding this week's Prison of Elders stream, as well as plenty of information on Tuesday's return of Iron Banner. Relevant player support links and Cozmo's favorite clips of the week are available as well. Thanks to Blackt1g3r for kicking off the discussion on the forum. [Bottlewasher edit: Korny's new here, so he's forgiven for not noticing the local version before posting. But it's there, if you need it.]
