Can't wait to find out what Destiny's 2.2.0 Update will bring when it deploys on April 12th, 2016? Then join Bungie's own Lead Designer Ryan Paradis and Senior Designer Tim Williams over on Twitch as they preview some of the new PVE challenges that they've helped bring to the (loot) table.
Straight from Bungie's Creations page, Cozmo has singled out Kob One's artwork for this week's excellent Community Focus. Kob One comes off as a real down-to-earth Guardian who understands the Titan struggle, so check out his thoughts and artwork!
Another week, another update - Bungie has posted the latest summary on their website (and we've put a local copy up in our Archive). Give it a read for a roadmap of the near future (changes will be detailed in streaming sessions, also listed in this update), along with goodies for Twitch fans, a summary of this week's Bungie Bounty event, answers from the Help team, and some cool movies. Get set for next week! Discuss on our forum, thanks to CruelLEGACEY.
Last week, we mentioned that Dave Candland, UI Guru at Bungie, was giving a talk at the Game Developers Conference on Destiny's interface. The actual talk will likely be available at some point on the GDC website, but for now, you can swing by Kotaku to see some cool screen grabs showing some of the ideas the team went through before settling on what we currently know as the Destiny interface. Super-cool! Thanks again, Korny.
Sound design, soundtracks, sounds of battle - go check out this week's recap on Bungie.net (or in our own archive) for the latest from Bungie's wordsmiths! Also, some fun videos.
Paul Jeong has built a replica of the Arcadia-class jumpship entirely with LEGO bricks! It’s a pretty impressive model, complete with engine details and a nice paint job. Be sure to hit the link to see more photos. I especially like the ones with the ship photoshopped into the loading scene. (Thanks to Black Six for the link!)
One of the Bungie talks to be given at GDC this year is a look at the UI design of Destiny, presented by longtime UI guru Dave Candland. The preview vid released to promote this is really fun (and contains lots of tidbits showing the evolution of the interface, for folks who want to pore over details) - go give it a look! Thanks, breitzen.
Yesterday, Bungie posted their latest weekly summary - it contains an archive of the first Bungie Ridealong since their Twitch studio went live (fascinating watch, discussing the Dreadnaught and how the designers thought about you when they built it), info about a new Hotfix dropping next week, player support hints, and some great movies of the week. Local, as well, of course. Go read it!
Yesterday, Bungie summarized their progress for the past week (and hinted at upcoming activities) in the latest missive on Bungie.net. Details about how their Twitch.TV channel is going to work, help for folks needing help, and some cool fan-created movies make up the bulk. As always, we have a local copy. Go read!
So, back in October, we mentioned another Penny Arcade strip focused on Destiny - but we haven't mentioned them since. There have been almost half a dozen Destiny-related strips in the past month - it's high time we let you know about them. (The latest came out today, and triggered this post.) Go read up!
The latest weekly update at Bungie is live - visit to see their new streaming studio, get details about next week's Iron Banner, and see fun community vids. While you're there, notice the update that Bungie.net as a whole has received, and take a look at the patch notes explaining today's minor game update (basically, they added the ability to give you a free ghost if you played Crimson Days last week). Both the update and the patch notes are local, as usual.
Over at reddit, chrisfried announced a new web app he'd created - this one will create a day-by-day heatmap showing your Destiny playtime. There are a few caveats - give it a while to render the data, and don't count on accurate representation if you've deleted characters - but overall, it's quite cool. Thanks to CyberKN for the heads-up! (If you like his work, and you play on Xbox One, check out his first Destiny web app - Guardian Theater. It'll show you all saved clips of games you've participated in, on all current characters. Pretty wild!)
Playing lots of Crimson Doubles and still haven’t garnered yourself a new Ghost shell? Bungie’s got you covered! According to a new blog post on Bungie.net, anyone who has played at least seven games of Crimson Doubles will find a 320 Ghost shell at the Postmaster after the event is over. If you have thoughts about this change in loot strategy, sound off in CruelLEGACEY’s forum thread!
This Week At Bungie, there's an announcement of upcoming content - a "large expansion" later this year, and "a full Destiny sequel" in 2017. Nice! There's also some info about matchmaking in Crimson Doubles, some extra info about the Crimson Days event, and the traditional fan content. Go give it a full read! (Comments can be directed to the forum thread started by CyberKN.) As usual, there's a local copy.
Bungie has released Destiny Update 2.1.1, primarily to introduce Crimson Days, but also to right a few wrongs. Check out the full list on their website (or ours) - and then get in there and play!
The Bungie Weekly Update has had a name change! In This Week At Bungie, DeeJ and a few other Bungie employees cover some of the big changes coming in the February update next Tuesday. Just to mention a couple: Special Ammo changes are coming in 3v3 playlists and Ogres will lost the ability to teleport! Go read it to see the rest (or view it locally)!
