Destiny Dispatch released a piece of art for their upcoming webcomic, Fireteam Grisly. It's always great to see what the community comes up with - I can't wait to see what this is all about! We also missed the release of their latest podcast episode - the crew discusses the recently released Xbox One and PS4 and share their next-gen experiences. Check it out!
If you're stuffed with food, nothing aids digestion like sitting back in a comfy couch and listening to the dulcet tones of your favorite podcast hosts. Unfortunately, Guardian Radio was on break this week, so the Bungie crew will have to suffice. DeeJ, Urk, and Halcylon are joined by Jennifer Ash, Associate User Researcher, and Tom Slattery, Localization Content Manager, to discuss how Bungie is building Destiny for a wide variety of players. Go listen!
Défendez la dernière cité sur Terre. Vainquez nos ennemis. Explorez les ruines de notre système solaire. Devenez une légende. Pardon my French, but it looks like Bungie is planning to kick ass all over the world when Destiny releases, and Céline Bolduc is there to make sure the message of world domination doesn't get lost in translation. Read about her story (in English, thankfully) in the latest Breaking In article over at Bungie.net. (Thanks for the new tip, sario!)
IGN has posted a roundup of games that their editors are looking forward to in the coming year - and included a poll, so you can vote for your own top choices. Destiny, of course, is on the list!
One thing I love about Bungie fan art is that it comes in a wide variety of styles; this colorful piece is "SupersTrio" by MasterCoy. (Nice find, Hedge.)
Strauss, Lord Gheritt, and Marcus Whitesides return in another installment of the Ghosts and Echoes transmissions. Re-establish communications over at The Guardians of Destiny and remember: from the ice mines of Pluto, to the solar research facilities of Mercury, Strauss will be there for you, to provide the information that matters most.
Hedgemony continued his streak of finding news-worthy Destiny images with the discovery of Klash120's cosplay-filled flickr page. There are multiple sets to browse through (One | Two), giving you a glimpse into the entire process - from creating the costumes to goofing around outside Bungie HQ. Impressive stuff here!
Another week, another episode of Guardian Radio. I'll let roland fill you in:
Episode 38 is now deployed! This week we learned that the Destiny Beta will be launching first on the Playstation platforms. This has reverberated throughout the community and we weigh in with our thoughts. We break down the latest trailer and Destiny Drawing board. There’s also a rather in-depth discussion at the beginning of the episode centered around the next-gen consoles. Tune in and get your weekly audible Destiny fix!
You heard the man - tune in.
Throw caution to the wind and skip class to read the latest Breaking In article to learn about Mike Shannon, Senior IT Engineer on the Data Center team, and his unorthodox journey to Bungie. Find out how this hard-working foodie climbed the ranks of the IT world, then take his advice and head back to class with a renewed hunger for expanding your breadth and depth of knowledge.
The Playstation 4 has finally launched, and Bungie honored the event with some brand new in-engine footage and very exciting news for the PlayStation Nation: When the Destiny beta launches in early 2014, it will be available first on PS4 and PS3. Tough break, Xbox fans.
Hedgemony often scours DeviantArt for Destiny fan images, and this time his search resulted in "The Strength of the Pack" by neoninz. Be sure to check out the original file, as the preview image above fails to convey the titanic havok of the full sketch.
We missed this earlier, but Guardian Radio released episode 37 right on schedule. Join the crew at Guardians of Destiny as they discuss the BWU, the Arcus Regime, and everyone's favorite Hercules song. (Thanks, roland.)
Looks like Bungie will be part of the GameTrailers PlayStation 4 launch coverage tonight
- tune in to "PS4 All Access" on SpikeTV at 11pm EST (8pm PST) or watch it streaming online. Rumor has it there will be a new trailer with some epic in-engine footage...A new Drawing Board is upon us thanks to Bungie, but this time it isn't a gun - it's a knife. And what a lovely tool of destruction it is. Go read.
GrimBrother IV pointed it out first in our forums. He keeps this up, Xenos may be out of a job as "the guy who finds stuff before us".From Bungie's Twitter:
This Hunter can claim his prey without firing a shot. Care to know more? We'll sketch it out for you later this week."
Xenos may have also posed about it in our forums, but I totally saw it first.
Another Breaking In article has surfaced, and this time the spotlight shines on Kailey Frizzell. She's a technical artist on the Bungie's Spec Ops team, which might sound like a really cool, impressive job, but in actuality is a... really cool, impressive job. Hm. At any rate, visit Bungie.net to read all about Kailey's fascinating journey to Bungie, her axe-cellent geek credentials, and her favorite moment from the Moon.
If you don't have time to read the Bungie Weekly Update (either at B.net or in our own Weekly Update Archive) Greenskull has broken it down for you in visual form. 3 minutes will give you the skinny.
roland let us know that Episode 9 of Ghosts and Echoes is now available for download (also in text form). Visit the archive page if you need to catch up on the continuing story of Strauss, Lord Gheritt, Marcus Whitesides, and SAMMM!
A work-in-progress sketch by our resident artist, Leviathan. Very cool.
The romantic lines of its elegant design are a throwback to when crafting weapons was a labor of love."
Why are you reading this? Go look at a new gun. It's like a beautiful spaceship with a handle and trigger attached! Thanks GrimBrotherIV.
The Guardians of Destiny are back with episode 36 of Guardian Radio - the crew discuss the #DestinyFansGiveBack Extra-Life campaign and recap the latest in Destiny news. Dr. Craig Hardgrove hosts a new segment called ‘Space Magic Academy’ - you might learn a thing or two. Kick back and go listen! Thanks, roland.
The last time we heard from UnknownEmerald, he was showing off his Hunter and Titan costumes. It looks like his arsenal of Destiny weapons has grown, because now he's got a Conduit F3 fusion rifle to charge into battle with. It even lights up!
Just as DeeJ, Urk, and the rest of the Bungie away team returns home from overseas, so to does the Bungie Weekly Update! After a brief recap of their jet-setting adventures, we get one last look at the Moon before that destination goes dark, with specific focus on the Accelerator environment we saw in the original Grognok demo and more recently heard about on last week's podcast. The Halloween pumpkin carving entires get some love, too, and even a couple Mail Sack questions get answered!
And, of course, the update is available in our local archive should you wish to read it over here.
