Yesterday's Bungie Weekly Update was a doozy - no real details, but they're in bug-squashing mode, which is exciting! (There are pictures. Not of bugs, you sicko.) There are also more pics of the Fallen Captain cake that Dave Candland received a few days ago. And some great questions and answers in the Mailsack. What are you waiting for? (We have a copy here, too, of course.)
... Is the title of this piece by VulcanRaptor as posted on his DeviantArt (which also showcases some Bungie-style Halo fanart as well). I love the fun, free-flowing style of the piece! Click the image to see it in its natural habitat.
If you missed GameInformer's January 2014 article because you didn't have a subscription, you're in luck - GI has released that article to everyone, for free. Awesome! (It's a really good read, and contains a boatload of info we haven't seen elsewhere. You've probably seen most of the content now via third-party sources - but here's your chance to read the actual article.)
Sometimes, Wednesday bleeds into Friday. (Hey, it's been a busy week!) roland let us know that Guardian Radio Episode 55 hit the interwebs - special guest this time around is Datto, of DattoDoesDestiny. Pretty interesting 'cast! Go listen, if you haven't already.
David Candland, Lead UI Designer at Bungie, posted a Tweet about an interesting cake that made an appearance at Bungie today. Tasty AND stylish!
Today I stabbed a Fallen Captain in the face and ate his innards. #sweetbreads pic.twitter.com/3mXrkCR2VI
Hedge pointed out that the image I posted earlier today by Wahine808 was one of the entrants in the Spring Art Contest held by Bungie.net group "Art and Stuff". We missed this when it was first announced, but First Place went to The Cyan Hawk for crafting the colorful Hunter piece posted above. Congrats! Be sure to check out the full gallery of winners over in this forum thread. (Happy now, Hedge?)
Do you think love can bloom even on a battlefield? DeviantART user WickedWahine808 thinks so. (Hat tip to @BungieInformer for finding this.)
Destiny Time! C'mon, grab your friends; we'll go to very distant lands. With Jake the Titan and Finn the Hun-ter, the fun will never end; it's Destiny Time! (KL45H is the mind behind this awesome Adventure Time crossover, and you can check out the full image over on Deviant Art. Much love to Hedgem0ny for finding this gem!)
Bungie has announced the ultimate collector's experience for Destiny, and it's quite a step up from the Noble Team statues and Master Chief cat helmets of yore. You might want to act fast, though - with such bargain prices this deal probably won't last more than a day!
Hmmm, there's something oddly familiar about this "Galactic Sniper" minifig by Brick Affiliation. (Nice find, Hedge.)
The Bungie Weekly Update is live, with a first-hand account by DeeJ of how deliciously the Destiny experience is coming along. Take in some tantalizing impressions and stick around for a few juicy tidbits in the Mail Sack, giving some solid indications on the nature of PvP and why you'll want to experience what each flavor of Guardian has to offer. (Don't forget, there's always a local version, too.)
This model might look like it belongs in Team Fortress 2, but it wasn't built in the Source engine - it's a 6.75" statue made from metal wire and Jumping Clay! If you want to see more pictures of gunnhed's creation, you can find a few over on deviantART. I'll just sit here and patiently wait for an Aardman style stop-motion short...
Hedge's latest deviantART find is this chilly piece by ericgonzalesart. Looks like this Guardian could use a nice, warm cup of hot chocolate!
Looks like Bungie employees get a pretty cool birthday card, but something tells me we won't see any Fallen Captains being this festive in the final game. (Image from rawksaur's Twitter page. Happy Birthday, Dawn!)
In a shocking turn of events, we find our heroes facing yet another episode of the Guardian Radio podcast. This time, the hosts were joined by Bungie fan John Hogan, co-creator of the Destiny Community Hub App. Check out the episode over on iTunes or at TheGuardiansOfDestiny.com. (Thanks, roland.)
What happens when a cosplaying Bungie fan has access to a 3D printer? We get to see awesome stuff like the Warlock gear "m asanuma" is crafting for WonderCon. You can follow the progress of this expertly-modeled project over in this Bungie.net thread.
The fan fiction queue has been quieter lately, but PerseusSpartacus submitted the next chapter of his Introversion in the Key of D Minor series. Go have a read!
Bungie's Scott Shepherd discussed Destiny's character creation system in a GDC panel this morning - Polygon has the details. Go read! Thanks again, Xenos.
This week's Bungie Update is live now - it contains some reassurances, some answers that you may or may not appreciate, and a new screenshot. You might even learn something about a reveal you thought you understood. You can read it on Bungie.net (thanks, Xenos), or here on DBO, in our Weekly Update Archive. Check it out!
Our local ambassador to the Internets, Xenos, informed us of Faceware Technologies' latest client: Bungie. Faceware's specialty - you guessed it - is generating faces, which is something Destiny will be using a lot of when we aren't smacking visors together. You can read a little more about it at GameRevolution.
Not sure where all the admins are these days - but I'd like to personally apologize for a lack of interesting stuff to look at this week. To make it up to you, here are three sketches done by redditor Alt_Historian - I thought they were fun! (You can provide feedback in this reddit thread.)
For anyone who wants an easy-to-find copy of the recent PS4 'Sharing is Caring' commercial featuring Destiny, we've added a copy to our 'Official Vids' archive. Go grab it for yourself!
