So it's summer, and we're busy. Or maybe we're hanging out at the beach. Or just in the back yard, with margaritas. Or whatever. The point is, we're getting less reported than maybe we should. So let's summarize a few of the cool things that have happened over the past week:
Bungie's Luke Smith raided with TheMavShow as part of a charity event for StackUp.org, and agreed to tell fun stories about the development of the Vault of Glass Raid for each $100 donated. There's a Twitch archive of the full 2.5+ hour event, but if you're just in it for the stories, Datto did a nice job of splicing together many (most?) of the stories.
The Playstation Blog detailed the Playstation exclusives coming with Rise of Iron - a new map, a new quest, and a new ship. Go read about all of it! Those of us who play on Xbox One will see this stuff in a year. Thanks to CyberKN for the heads-up.
Yesterday, a new update launched, which marked the end simultaneous progress on different generations of the same platform. Your character on the Xbox 360 is no longer linked to your character on the Xbox One, and your character on the PS3 is no longer linked to the PS4. Full details can be found at Bungie.net, or in our Patch Note Archive.
Yesterday, Bungie revealed a boatload of information about Rise of Iron in a Livestream from Gamescom. The big reveal was the existence of Private Matchmaking (more details at Bungie.net, natch), but it's an hour-long stream, and full of all sorts of goodies. You can watch an embedded archive below, or visit our forum for conversation with fans.
At the same time as the Livestream, Bungie released their latest ViDoc - this one is called 'Forged In Fire', and can be viewed on YouTube. (We've added it to our official video archive, as well.) There's quite a bit of discussion about this, too - very spirited! Many fans are unhappy at the reveal of information about the upcoming raid in Rise of Iron - while there are no MAJOR spoilers in the ViDoc, if you're intent on going into the raid completely blind, you should probably skip this one for the time being.
Last, but DEFINITELY not least, longtime fan TDSpiral stopped in with some new fanart - he's tried to visualize The Last Great Ahamkara, and whether or not he's created something that Bungie would agree belongs in their universe, it's fantastic. A tiny teaser has been included below, but visit his Artstation page to see the full image, plus some behind-the-scenes stuff. I love this!
Okay - I feel like I've gotten SOME of the important stuff off our collective plate. I need to wrap this up - there's a margarita with my name on it just a few short steps away.
Bungie will be showing off some content from Rise of Iron at 10AM Pacific time on Tuesday, and reports say there may be some big stuff announced! Custom games maybe? Tune in to watch below or over at Bungie's Twitch page. It'll be archived as soon as possible afterwards as well! Bungie will also be streaming throughout Gamescom, though if you're in the US it may not be at the most convenient times. Check out the schedule over at Bungie.net.
In Stuntmutt's words:
This one arguably has a clanger of a spoiler in it...
As usual, Stuntmutt focuses on the important aspects of any announcement...
Brian Cook put together a Hunter cosplay costume... and then took some spectacular pictures. Click the thumbs below for screen-sized versions, or download the high-res originals linked below. I love these!
He started a thread on our forum, so go and let him know what you think!
The cover story of September's Game Informer magazine is Rise of Iron, and they'll be teasing content all month in preparation. You can see the coverage trailer on their website now (thanks, CybrKN). Lots to talk about, even though it's only snippets now!
Stuntmutt's still in the Caribbean, but he found time to send us this week's Vault of Farce. I'm not sure if I should be thanking him or not.
The latest Update notes are live on Bungie.net (and in our Patch Note Archive) - it's a few niggling problems they wanted to correct before Rise of Iron drops in a couple of months. It's also the last update (barring emergencies) for legacy consoles. Go give it a read! Got comments? CybrKN started a thread on the forum.
This is pretty fun. And really well-done. Thanks, Roland!

Good news, bad news.
Good news, I'm approximately 4000 miles away from the laptop and copy of Word that I use to make VoF.
Bad news, my daughter brought a set of felt tip pens...
Bungie will be showing off the changes coming to the Cosmodrome today on Twitch at 10AM PST. Watch the archived stream below, or head over to their Twitch channel.

Winter is Coming. Again.

Swing by Bungie.net and read about the goodies on offer for Bungie Day! The Year 2 Moments of Triumph book is now available, and if you haven't finished the tasks within, you've got until September 20 to do so! New schwag is available in the Bungie Store, and buying it this week nets you a pretty cool in-game emblem. There's plenty more, so go and see! (We have a local copy as well, since this is the standard This Week At Bungie post this week, too.)
Apparently my peers were off celebrating the Fourth of July early this weekend and forgot to post the latest Vault of Farce from Stuntmutt. We shall correct this error... now!
With the Weekly Update light on content, Vault of Farce asks the big questions about the upcoming expansion.
And gets no answers.
Remember those awesome Titan figures by 3A? Well they are officially showing off the Warlock and Hunter figures, which go on sale this week and the 21st respectively! Like before there will be three different versions depending on where you purchase it from (my favorite is the Bungie Store Edition shown below). Go check out their posts about them to see more pictures and to drop $200 for one!
There is a calm over at Bungie studios right now. One of those calms where you can feel the electricity in the air as the impending storm approaches; which is to say that there's not much in the way of news in this week's update. But with Bungie Day around the corner, you can bet that it won't be the case next week. For now, Iron Banner is here, and Bungie is highlighting the various wolf-packs in the community, Destiny Player Support details the changes coming to Legacy consoles, and Cozmo provides the Elder Champions and MotW clips.
Enjoy the silence, but be sure to pack an umbrella for the next couple of weeks.
Sometimes your brain just won't let you sleep...
After a short, bug-induced absence, Trials of Osiris returns to Destiny! Bungie will be monitoring the matchmaking performance, and assuming that all goes well, Iron Banner may also make a return on Tuesday (June 28th, 10AM PST), so keep your fingers crossed!
For a full rundown of the Trials and Iron Banner info, check out the article over on Bnet.
It's that time again - even a little early, maybe. DeeJ is back on the job, bringing us this week's Update. If you've been anxious to try those recent Hunter changes in Trials of Osiris, then get ready for Hot Fix 2.3.0.1, which aims to squash a nasty bug that has been cancelling your endgame PvP experiences (Iron Banner also makes a return next week).
Hunter stats, Challenge champs (close week!), Player Support, and three MotW clips round out the update, with a tease of what's to come (Bungie Day!), so check it out! A local copy is available as always (thanks, Claude), if you prefer.
