Harold Ryan has stepped down as CEO of Bungie today, and Pete Parsons has been appointed as the new CEO. Pete issued a short statement about the change:
I want to personally thank Harold for his friendship, passion, hard work, and dedication in helping make Bungie the great company it is today. As a team, we celebrated many victories and weathered many storms.
To the players of Destiny, I want you to know that my number one priority, and Bungie’s, is and always has been to deliver great games that we can all share together. I believe that Destiny is a one-of-a-kind experience. I also believe you have yet to see our studio’s best work. My new role here at the studio will be entirely focused on fulfilling that promise.
Congratulations to Pete! No word if Harold will be staying with Bungie.
Destiny World Artist Rob Adams spent a year and a half turning his daughter's bedroom into a magical wonderland - you can check out pictures (and comments) on reddit, or watch a local TV news piece on the project. (This is embedded below, for your convenience.) Props to Rob... and thumbs-up to his daughter for having the coolest bedroom in Seattle! (Thanks to unoudid for bringing it to the attention of our forum.)

Looks like Stuntmutt is gearing up for some sweet talk.
We had a query about our Fan Fiction section today - upon checking it, I realized there were a number of stories queued up (since, I'm embarrassed to say, October). These are posted now - go give 'em a read!
There are two offerings from Stuntmutt this week; the first was created on Tuesday, the second today. (If you need a little context, this Tweet from Tuesday and this one from today might help.)
The DICE Award Nominees were announced yesterday, and Destiny: The Taken King was nominated for three awards: Action Game of the Year, Outstanding Achievement in Online Gameplay, and Outstanding Achievement in Sound Design. The winners will be announced on February 18th.
This year Achievement Hunter used math to help them decide their Top 10 games, and they weren't very happy with the results, especially Destiny: The Taken King taking the #1 spot! Watch the video below:
ObsidianKitteh stopped in with a pretty cool announcement - he's gonna be a dad! And because both he and his wife are Destiny fanatics... well, the announcement is Destiny-themed, right down to the game box. Check out the images, and wish him luck! (My guess is, by June, his gaming time is gonna drop a little.)
The sketchbook winner from the contest began in our last Starside Lounge has been announced in our forum along with some runner-up artwork!
And, by the way, have a happy New Year on us!
Stuntmutt posted this on our forum yesterday:
Stuntmutt is in a holiday mood, and if we don't get another chance to say it, DBO hopes you have a great holiday season!
They're not Pentatonix, they're not Peter Hollens... but they have something nobody else has: a version of "Mary, Did You Know" that focuses on your favorite Light-Eater this holiday season. Husky Raid, the Destiny clan known for its in-game dance extravaganzas (check out this article for some fun backstory), has released a beautiful rendition of a modern Christmas classic. Go listen. (Thanks, Schedonnardus.)
"Who knew they had their own skill trees?"
Beorn stopped by the forum yesterday to announce that the latest Starside Lounge (recorded last weekend) has been released - Beorn, Xenos, Leviathan and Speedracer were joined by SquidNH3 for a great two-hour discussion that covers everything from Challenge Mode to Sparrow Racing. You can listen to it on YouTube, or just drop by the Starside Lounge archive and stream it from there. There's a giveaway buried in there, as well - and if you're interested in a Destiny sketchbook, it's a pretty simple entry process. You have until Monday to get in the running, so go listen!
CraftingGeek has made our front page in the past a number of times and she's done it again with Traveler-themed Christmas cards!
Additionally, we'd be amiss not to mention the Sparrow Racing League banners she's just translated into real life! How cool!
CruelLEGACY let us know about a new montage he's put together showing off Tripmines in recent Iron Banner and Trials of Osiris outings. Watch below or here!
Stuntmutt sez:
Here's the usual from me, an old joke wrapped in Destiny clothing.
If you want actual humour, I'd direct you to the reddit poster who pointed out -
Bungie promised us 320 helmets from SLR.
Sure enough, I've had 200 drop so far, only another 120 to go...
We're a bit slow this week, but there's lot of new content for you on B.net. Patch 2.1.0 went live on Tuesday - you can read the full patch notes (edited today, in fact) there, or here, in our local archive. Some of the damage numbers were a bit wonky (and have been edited a couple of times now); explanations for these changes can be found in today's Bungie Weekly Update (also with a local copy). There's a boatload of other good stuff in there, too - including a piece from Urk which should allay your fears if you were one of the people who worried that 2016 would be full of events like the Sparrow Racing League, but no other substantial content. Finally, there was a Hot Fix this morning, correcting some unexpected behaviors brought on by the patch. (This is local, too.) Go read it all!
Polygon has posted a video showing both Sparrow racetracks (a complete race on each track) - fun! Go watch. Thanks, electricpirate.
Bungie snuck up behind us and tapped us on the shoulder today. When we turned around, a lovely new game mode and way to play Destiny was in front of us! Sparrow Racing League will be available for Taken King buyers starting Dec. 8th and will be available for three weeks. Watch the ViDoc (Woo! ViDocs!) below and get excited!
